Blu-ray authoring help

If you do ever have any luck with Roxio, do let us know. I've never heard of anyone having luck mastering with software other than Blu-print or Scenarist HD. If Roxio's solution actually started to work, that would really be great for smaller producers.

BTW, have you had any luck getting someone to help with your project?

Roxio has e-mailed there still testing and will let you know if they come up with anything.

I've been through a month of hell with Roxio. Their latest version of Easy Media Creator 9 has .m2ts files (which are produced by the Sony Handycam HDR-SR1) listed as one of its file types (unbeknownced to half the people working there), but it doesn't work. They finally decided that this is an error, that Easy Media Creator 9 doesn't support HD, but that Easy Media creator 10 does. They also love to blame the fact that my video card wasn't made in the last 5 minutes for their software's inability to read .m2ts files. I upgraded to a new video card which has drivers that were updated in July 2007, but it still doesn't work. I keep getting an error message which reads, "Error building graph". To make a very long story short, they were very uncooperative.

As I described in my other posting https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...882#post188882 I've had nothing but trouble with Roxio. They kept blaming my video card, so I bought a new one, and updated the drivers to July 2007. I still got the "Error building graph" message. I finally returned Roxio Easy Media Creator 9, and am now deleting it off my machine.

Next, I tried Ulead DVD Movie Factory 6 Plus. It won't even attempt to read .m2ts files. Here's what they wrote back to me:

"Both products have the same features except that DVD MovieFactory 6 plus was intended for authoring; with regards to .m2ts files, both of these products wouldn't understand .m2ts files directly. You have to use "Insert DVD/DVD-VR" function to import each clips."

What this means, is that I have to connect my camcorder to my PC, and basically trick the software into thinking the camcorder is a dvd. Then I guess maybe it would slurp up the video/audio, and use it. But the trouble is, I've already copied the video on the camcorder to my PC, deleted it from the camcorder, and repeated this process several times. I've tried copying it back to the camcorder, but it won't let you copy files larger than 2 GB, which corresponds to about 15 minutes of high-definition footage. This means if you've recorded some 1-hour meetings, you have to break them up into 15-minute chunks (assuming you have enough disk space to do so), then copy them one at a time back to your camcorder. This process literally takes days. I may have to resort to something like this, but even if I did, I'd still have to buy a new computer because I'd be processing the footage at real-time, and my poor 6-year old computer isn't fast enough to do that. So I'd now be looking at $1400 for the camcorder, $600 for the blu-ray burner, and now another $1000 - $2000 for a new high-end computer. Its getting a little hard on the budget.

I tried using that DeMuxer https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=2562 but it just generates an error message and quits before I even try to load a file.

I also tried using the software that comes with the Sony camcorder to produce a AVCHD disk. This won't work on my Sony blu-ray disk writer if it had a blu-ray disk in it, but it does appear to work if it has a regular dvd in it. But of course, it won't play on my Samsung BDP-1000 blu-ray player; another dead end.

"I suggest using Aspect HD with Premiere Pro CS3. Use Aspect HD's HDLink utility to convert the m2ts file (on your harddrive) to a cineform HD AVI file and then import the avi files into Premiere Pro CS3 for editing."

I am now going to try this, and see if it works.

I have been anxiously awaiting Cyberlink's support of AVCHD. They make great editing and authoring packages.

I tried Ulead's approach. The importing from a DVD function is not that bad, you just copy the raw files from your camera to your hard drive (be sure to keep the /BDMV directory structure). I just don't much care for their editing package.

That's an excerpt from an email I got back from them. I have ftp'd a sample .m2ts file to them, which the woman said (on September 28, 2007) that she would forward on to the RD team. If any break throughs are made, I will post news of them here.

Mean while, I have downloaded Cineform's AspectHD software. It too generates an error message. I have notified their tech support people, and sent them a sample file as well.

I can't assure it will work for you, but when I used Cyberlink PowerProducer and wanted to use .m2t files, I was able to use RemuxTS to produce a file that was mpeg elementary streams. The download is here, partway down (its in Japanese):

Running it is confusing because it writes a copy of the file with the exact same filename and extension to another directory. Just take the output and change to .mpg and it may work well for you.

I currently use Roxio DVDit Pro HD to make projects with menus. I could do it from demuxed .m2t files, but get better results, especially at hard scene changes by feeding DVDit my Cineform Aspect HD .avi files. If all I have on an old project is an .m2t file, I use Cineform HD link to take it back to Cineform .avi

Cyberlink's PowerDirector now supports .m2ts files. Cyberlink's workflow is much smoother than Ulead's. You don't have to pull the files from the camera. You just open the .m2ts video files just like any other video file. Their software converts the .m2ts files to hd-mpeg2 for editing. You even can batch process a whole directory.

Thanks, but don't you need PowerProducer to produce a blu-ray disk? The tech support woman at Cyberlink told me that PowerProducer 5 would perform this task, but it still isn't available yet.

Hi, I´m from México, and i just bought My Brand New
Vaio VGN-AR690FG with Blu-ray etc...
I can edit and play high definition with no problems at all, as well as burn it. But I have a problem. When I try to connect my Vaio with My High Definition TV (I'ts a SONY one) with the HDMI Interface I can see the movies on my TV making some adjustments, but I can´t see it on My LCD from my PC. And when i try to put both i can´t. my LCD It´s totally on Black and if i disonnect the HDMI My computer stay´s black untill i turn it off. What can i do?

They now tell me that PowerProducer 5 will be released in February.
