Does anyone know how long the Criterion 50% off sale will run for on amazon. Barnes and noble is saying 28/07. Will amazon be the same? Or has it traditionally been the same? Cheers

amazon doesn't have a sale. they're just price matching. if my memory serves me correctly, their prices will often stay 50% off beyond the b&n sale, but there's no telling how long.

If you are into Japanese ghost cinema, then you may be interested in this October announcement from Radiance films...

Daiei Gothic - Japanese Ghost Stories

I preordered it blindly, because it looks like a total banger of a set.

During the past year, my Blu-ray spending has been only a tiny fraction of what it was in previous years. I am short on storage space and am spending my disposable income on other priorities (concerts, etc.).
Still, the Radiance and Indicator labels are blowing my mind lately with their releases and with the quality of their presentations.

Fingers crossed that it's truly coming.

Screenshots haven't been updated on their website, but that's not always an indication. As far as I know, the screenshots for Blue Velvet weren't updated.

If they do update, isn't it usually on the day of the announcement?

And if the film doesn't get announced this month, then I have a strong feeling that November is an even better candidate since Kubrick is such a huge name.

On a side note, this leaves Eyes Wide Shut and Lolita without a 4K UHD now and Eyes Wide Shut had that 4K restoration announcement on this site back in September 2019 when only 2 Kubrick films (2001 and The Shining) had their UHDs announced or released (The Shining came out on October 2019, a month after the announcement).

They've been updating screenshots on their website lately days ahead of announcements.

A good example is Pandora's Box, which given the new screenshots, should be indicating a BD (and maybe 4K) announcement tomorrow.

Some baseless speculation! Criterion on Instagram posted about Paris, Texas. Hope that means a 4K of the new restoration!

Does Criterion upgrade the screenshots when the 4K UHD uses the same transfer as the Blu-ray?

Unless it's a new color grading, I don't think so.

This partly leads me to believe that Eraserhead may get announced in 4K tomorrow.

Looking at Blue Velvet the caps appear the same, but one of the caps is swapped out for a different shot and they are in a different order.

Dumb question probably: How can you guys tell when the screenshots are changed? Do you just remember what was there before?

Sometimes it is obvious, like Pandora's Box as they only had one shot on the page, and the updated page has a video and multiple shots. Other times I compare pages using the Wayback Machine

I have a strong feeling Paris Texas and Seven Samurai are going to be announced on November's lineup.

As for the Barry Lyndon stills, I don't think they will be updated at all since the current Blu-ray is from the same 4K restoration. There will be no difference in color grading most likely.

I just wanted to say I am very excited to be seeing Seven Samurai in theaters in like 2 weeks. 4K restoration. Thankfully there is an intermission. The local retro theater is playing it all weekend. Going to the 10 am showing. Matinee, only 10 bucks, can't beat that.
