I would hardly say he shoots any quicker than anyone else, and especially not "cheaply". His films routinely cost $30, sometimes $50 million and up...

I believe that K.Brown and M. Liebman are working in the reviews. I am also waiting for the site's review!

Considering what he does his films are considered fairly inexpensive, and he is known to be fast. He was able to shoot Gran Torino during a break in production of Changeling.

Whatever the site was called. You got my point. Plus the mega thread you're referring to was a question regarding which one will you buy or will you buy both.

I love how you also jumped on that MEGA thread to voice your concern there as well about there being too many threads on this subject. LOL!!!

That rules!

Braveheart looks great.
Well, I realize that the topic of derogatory discussion is Gladiator, and I meant to type Gladiator, and I think most people here who reasonably followed the discussion realize I meant to type Gladiator.
If you really feel that strongly about my pre-senile moment, I’ll ask one of the mods here to go back and replace Braveheart with Gladiator on my original post as well as all those that duped it......and at the same time get Alzheimer's genetic testing in order to get my affairs in order for the future.

Have I made any other profound errors…..like a few spelling mistakes?

After being out of the loop on this one, looks like I'll sit on the sideline till our most trusted reviewers have their say on the matter. Good luck Marty or Ken, whoever gets the Gladiator review.

I wonder how the DVD Beavers got a review copy of Gladiator and blu-ray.com didn't? Regardless, the Beaver review was quite good. Can't wait to see -- and hear -- Gladiator in full HD. I love Maximus and Proxhomo, but Joachum Phoenix trying to have "intimate relations" with his sister was a bit much, even for me.

I received mine in Denmark five days ago. FedEx from DVDPacific. Gladiator is outstanding. You just have to close your eyes, listen to the soundtrack ... and pretend. I will expect a replacement program from Paramount, like Sony did with 5th. Element.

I knew what your were referring to, it was pretty clear.. My mom does that all the time with my brother and myself, swapping names. No big deal

DVD Beaver is not sent any discs by any studios to my knowlege. They have some private retailer feeding them

Discs are identical, different logos. Universal actually did all the work on the disc from what I've been able to gather

Which explains the seamless branching, which AFAIK Paramount itself has yet to do.

Well, I’ll tell you right now that if this movie
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0104346/

ever makes it to Blu-ray in the near future, it will not be part of any Ruby or Emerald Edition, etc. designated series.

So, the deciding factor then was money, and probably this time too. Correct?

Apparently, you don’t remember what I posted yesterday on the previous page………

“I’ve already received several P.M.’s complaining that you’re carrying this anti-Braveheart campaign to other forums besides Blu-ray.com which strikes me as an agenda, rather than stating your observation and moving on. Also, if you think you can strong-arm Paramount into recalling Braveheart or reissuing a more visually pleasing disc at least to your eyes, or have them implement a change in their technological or business practices, I’ll tell you right now that it won’t work and you’re becoming a nuisance by trying so here. If you think you can shame people here that are fans of the movie into not purchasing it because it doesn’t meet your standards……..that is nothing to be proud of either.”
I do remember that, but it was addressed specifically to another forum member so why should I have responded to that?

It is a well-established fact that no BD title has ever been recalled because of poor picture quality. New Line didn't recall Dark City. Fox didn't recall Patton. Disney didn't recall Gangs of New York. Paramount didn't recall the Trek movies. The closest we got was the exchange program for The Fifth Element. I don't think anybody can persuade a major studio to issue a recall, let alone strong-arm it into it. We've seen it time and again. And time and again the industry sources told us everything was going to be all right. And time and again, major releases are subjected to the same misguided process.

What we, from our subservient position, can do is merely raise awareness of the issue. Maybe the studios will listen, maybe not.

Quote:
Grubert, what I dislike about this matter is the hyperbole and persistent physiological campaigning by some *non-purchasers* to try to convince fans of the film to avoid purchasing the title because it doesn’t meet their personal expectations.
Are you kidding? What was the last time somebody convinced someone else of something in an Internet forum?

exactly how and where a compressionist would best apply grain reduction if needed in order to work within the bitrate budget allocated by the content provider, using which software and which encoder, that would be much more meaningful to me that you have direct and accurate experience in viewing/analyzing imagery pre/post grain reduction.
You're missing the point. I'm merely describing my personal experience of how films look like. And I stand by my opinion.

When any source (a forum member or this very site) posts screenshots and they are grainy, more often than not when I actually watch the movie, my reaction is, "well, it looks better than I expected". Whereas, when the screenshots have that filtered&sharpened look, my reaction is, "yep, it looks bad - actually, it looks very bad".
