I like Knock on Any Door quite a bit. But the other 3? Not particularly. They're perfectly watchable films though, if you're curious.

Unless there are objections, I believe Black Eye (1974) fits as well. Seems to combine noir with blaxploitation.

Fred Williamson (From Dusk till Dawn) plays Stone, whose search for a murder weapon spins into a spider’s web of suspense linking a religious cult, a porno ring, a missing person and a notorious drug underground. Labeled “The Hammer” because of his gridiron style, the former pro-football star attacks the role of Stone with the same hard-hitting driving style. From a high-rent high-rise to a dilapidated amusement park, from alleyways to the beach, Stone sorts out clues, sidesteps increasing numbers of corpses and shows tough guys what tough is all about. He gets a couple of C-notes in advance for his trouble. He dishes out much more in excitement.

I’d love to include The Red House (with Edward G. Robinson) in my noir-vember viewing since I enjoyed it a lot last time I saw it. It’s in public domain hell though, and doesn’t have a good Blu-ray release. I wonder who owns the rights to the original vault elements like a fine grain. Both releases are sourced from projection prints. As far as I can tell, The Film Detective’s is slightly better, but only by a bit (and their master is available for free viewing on YouTube). Hopefully something better comes along. The Film Chest disc is dirt cheap, but the screencaps have some horrendous DNR; it almost looks like video.

Even if you’d say they only have noirish elements, they’re good enough films to be on Blu-ray regardless of how they’re classified

I got the 4K set of The Third Man from Amazon UK and it may be the greatest 4K I have ever seen to date. The set itself, sans the shipping damage, is beautiful.

The Red House was restored by the UCLA Film & Television Archive and The Film Foundation, with funding provided by the Hobson/Lucas Family Foundation back in 2020. That restoration has yet to see a physical release, I'm holding out hope for Criterion or Flicker Alley.

Oh man, that would be awesome if either one of these companies released The Red House, a great film that has one of the worst blu-rays out there.

Oh I think it's underrated. I was expecting a campy B-noir and what I got was a very suspenseful horror story with an intense performance from Edward G. Robinson.

I can't see Criterion picking it up. Flicker Alley would be nice. More than likely it would be Kino though.

For Noir-vember this year, I'll probably just stream The Film Detective's remaster on YouTube.
