Did a retailer break street date which is how you got it on Blu-ray earlier than everyone else? I think with all the negative press, I may hold off on Gladiator myself and perhaps a better version will be released. Oh well, at least Braveheart looks amazing based on what many of the reviewers are saying.

There's also pretty much no facial detail improvement over DVD. It's a little bump, but nothing worth paying for.

As for TDK's image, it suffers from a little edge enhancement, but I didn't see any signs of DNR.

In Gladiator the edge enhancement is atrocious, and the artificial sharpness is cranked waaaay too high, and the DNR smears everything.

TDK's image is in no way comparable to Gladiator's. Think twice. It's an overall crappy image.

Also, anyone who is still hung up on the missing arrows and such needs to realize that you would barely notice it (if at all) when you actually watch the movie. So, saying the BD isn't better than the DVD just because of that is silly.
I'm not buying thinking it will force a re-release. I just refuse to pay for a sub par product. Hence why I won't buy a blu unless it has lossless audio for example.

After Bill Hunt's review I will not be wasting my hard earned money on this sub-par effort. Gladiator is a movie I've been looking forward to for a long time on Blu so this is quite disappointing. Hopefully Paramount takes Bills suggestion and recalls the disks and creates a new HD transfer.

Braveheart, on the other hand, I'll be picking up tomorrow after his glowing review

I think people need to refrain from calling it garbage until you see it yourself

Right, because you're SO sure it's going to be released again without any sort of replacement program in which the people buying it now can trade up. I personally don't think it makes sense to post statements like this until we receive some sort of official announcement. For all we know, this may be the Gladiator we are stuck with for a good while. I'm not saying or even suggesting everyone should go out and buy this release, just reiterating that nothing about a "fix" has been confirmed....yet

Why pay for people's mistakes? Did we allow ourselves to settle for the original Robocop release, 5th element release, T3 release, POTC 1 release?

No. So send it back and tell all the reviewers to send their copies back.

I will base a purchase on a review from Blu-ray.com and then decide. I will pickup Braveheart for now.

but it is garbage.when bill hunt says to maybe pass on this title, maybe you ought to heed the warning.so you mean wait and see for your self like the first 6 startrek movies!why spend the money on gladiator when its crap.and worse anybody that buys crappy looking titles on bd are telling the studios its ok to produce crappy looking bds.the studios need to wake up,this hurts the bd format in the long run because pq is still the big selling point.why settle for less.i say let gladiator sit there and rot until they recall that title and do it right.don't buy this title,or cancel you pre orders enough is enough!

I was thinking of buying it but after seeing all the threads here and on other sites, I will be holding off for now for either a fixed copy or if I can find it for really cheap. I can wait so no issues there.

Rather than allowing yourself to be convinced of anything by members who haven't even seen the actual disc...rent it and make the decision for yourself.
