I'm thinking about putting a riser under my sub.

My question is whether anyone has fastened their riser to their sub. I was thinking about putting rbber grommets between the sub and riser and then having bolts go through the riser and screw into the holes where the removable feet are.

Any thoughts?

I don't believe anyone has done it. As long as the riser is well damped, you should be ok. The only problem of attaching the subwoofer to the riser is that it becomes very difficult to move the sub around.

Not if you attach furniture sliders to the bottom if the riser.

I hope you do attach the riser to the sub lou, as I would like to get your impressions afterwards.

Just need time to get the parts and then more time to build it.

I'm seriously considering this, though. I tested out heights yesterday during lunch with some spare bricks I had lying around and found the best height (which I think will meet the WAF).

The bricks were exactly 2 inches. I tried three positions in the room. Each at 2", 4", and 6". At 2", I noticed little difference. At 6", it started to sound a little sloppy. I liked the 4" height. Therefore, 2x4 legs on a 3/4 inch platform, will give me 4.5 inches of lift.

I decided on the furniture sliders because the optimal position requires the sub to be moved slightly but the WAF will only allow this during movies since it will pretty much block a doorway.

I assume it will be a round subriser then?

I look forward to hearing your progress....

No. It will be rectangular. I have a box SVS sub.

I'll post progress posts for this project.

I'm not quite done yet. Still need some 1/2" staples and to stain the legs. Oh, and the most important part is missing... The Sub!

Any Opinions on what color to stain the pine legs? We have Honey Oak(I think that's what it is ), Cherry, and a lot darker stuff. I am kinda torn between buying a can of Natural or using the Cherry (same color as the floor).

Sorry for the horrible photos, used the camera on the phone.

To to the top of the wood it's 13 1/2" tall, and the rug adds another 1/2". Debating whether I should add some foam under the carpet as well.

The Sub is black, I'm not to fond of painting the legs that color. :P The front of the sub however, is a light gray.

If you have the foam I would think it would help more than not . Just make sure the sub is going to stay on the stand . If you add the foam I would pull the carpet firm when stapling to compress the foam some !

Looks nice so far. Since you don't want to stain it Black, I'd do it the same color as the Floor then. Just my opinion. Look forward to the end results photos.

Add more foam to the bottom. Buy 2" thick foam from Wal-Mart and attach it to the other foam with spray glue.

I'd add more foam if I could hide it. I have no idea how to sew (and no intention to learn ), otherwise I'd make a neat little cover or made the stand completely different. I used screw in legs so I can take it apart, makes moving easier.

Just curious, have we had anyone with a 100+ lb sub make a stand?
