Sending the four horsemen could be a way to get that 18 million back.

Okay, now it makes sense. Yeah, cause some Australians have this old Village Roadshow VHS collection and whatnot. I knew it was an Australian thing, but then there is also the movie studio division as well. Which confused me for a couple of years there.

Kind of surprised he admitted there was another cut. I wonder if Warner will respond or ignore it.

Yikes.

Quote:
Robert De Niro’s R-rated mob drama “The Alto Knights” is shaping up to be one of the year’s biggest flops. It’s aiming for $2 million to $3 million from 2,800 cinemas in its domestic debut. Warner Bros. is releasing the $45 million-budgeted film, directed by Barry Levinson, the veteran filmmaker of “Rain Man” and “Wag the Dog.”

In “Alto Knights,” formerly titled “Wise Guys,” De Niro pulls of double duty as notorious crime bosses Vito Genovese and Frank Costello. A power struggle devolves into chaos after Genovese orders a hit on Costello, who tries to protect himself and his family while also attempting to retire from the mafia.

Unless projections miraculously improve, “Alto Knights” will be the second consecutive theatrical misfire for Warner Bros. The studio released Bong Joon Ho’s “Mickey 17″ earlier in March, with the offbeat sci-fi comedy so far grossing $90 million globally against a hefty $118 million budget. Warner Bros.’ fortunes should rebound with anticipated follow-ups to “Mortal Kombat,” “Final Destination” and “The Conjuring” over the next few months. There are several pricey gambles, too, like Paul Thomas Anderson’s $130 million untitled film starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Ryan Coogler’s $90 million budgeted vampire thriller “Sinners” and Maggie Gyllenhaal’s $80 million Frankenstein spinoff “The Bride!”

Kudos to Warner for at least taking chances with directors and not churning out the same monotonous garbage over and over. Some of these bombs will no doubt have legs and become future cult hits or even beloved classics like Blade Runner.

I wonder what DC event movie is in May of 26. Cutting it awfully close to Supergirl.

I could see Disney trying to snap that up.

RIP to Warner Bros caring about their legacy IP, unless it's massively profitable.

I find that hard to imagine, but then again I never thought Disney would own Star Wars/Lucasfilm, Marvel, Fox, Hulu etc.

Right. I still can’t believe how much Disney does own, content wise. Not sold that this is a good thing for consumers but around here the mouse can do no wrong.

I mean Disney+ has removed some content from the app, but not as much as Max or even Paramount+ has in comparison.

I don't think there's any question about that. I mean, I remember when they were talking about removing some things, and then people found out about it and started to complain, and they listened and didn't remove them.

But Peacock is also pretty bad in terms of removing stuff. They could easily offer pretty much every single classic movie in Universal's library, but they don't.

Oh FFS; might as well look to sell off Warner next quarter and Bros. the quarter after that.

I get that it isn't as big of a brand these days, but man, you can still make less expensive movies and TV shows from that animation factory.

(wait a minute, is Jeff Sneider’s The InSneider a reliable source? they're the only ones reporting this so far)
