Right, but what's the main reason to detach them from the floor? Is it for tighter bass, or to lessen floor vibrations, etc?

The reason I asked is I have my subs stacked on there own risers & the bass in my room is way cool with the sub high . The top of the upper sub is 55 inches !

I think it more to prevent interaction with the floor , Have you seen the spikes you can get for speakers , Same thing I think !

Both of the above as well as isolating the speakers from the floor interactions and vibrations.

You did not look hard enough. Home Depot sells pre-cut round table tops. They come in two sizes. I bought two of the larger ones for my Hsu cylindrical subwoofers. You can find additional information in Post #1.

These are the wooden tops. The diameter of each one is 24" to accommodate the 23.5" diameter of the Hsu subs.

These are the attached legs. The length of each leg is 6".

I've looked for these over an hour. Maybe that particular branch did not have them. I also looked around for the pre-cut legs. Couldn't find them either. So I got a long 2X4 and manually cut it @ 4" pieces . It was a lot of work, but its worth the effort .

Hey Big Daddy- If someone were to try and emulate the design of those ASC basstraps, what would you think it would be a good idea to fill the inside with. I have the room so i'm thinking about building something tall (18-24") for my M&K.

All the Home Depot and Lowes stores in our area have them. Ask one of the associates for pre-cut table tops and table legs.

I'm with Big Daddy, go to the area where they sell the moulding, and you should find both the legs, attachments and the "table tops" to use for your platform. You can see in my gallery what I used for my cylinder sub-riser.

Yes, I have seen and know about the the table tops but I just wanted to try to utilize what I have first. If it does not work out I will build a new one for the SVS.

That's pretty much exactly what i was looking for. Thanks Crazy.
BTW, what was the reasoning for cutting a square in the top board. Just curious.

The bass port is in the bottom of the sub that sits on it . This way anything coming from the port is going into the foam & not coming from under the sub ! IMO it helps with the sound of the sub !

My sub has 2 12" woofers, one down firing and one front firing. I guess i should probably abide the same concept, huh?

As far as the front firing if the bass port is on the BTM yes on how I made mine ! Down fireing I would leave the upper piece solid without the slot !

M&K MX-125 uses a pair of drivers in push-pill configuaration. Push-pull design is said to reduce distortion and move twice as much air, allowing 6dB+ of additional output. The same principle of risers apply to the MK subwoofer.

While both of mine are 3-4 inches high you will yield better results making them 4-6 inches tall. Not a huge difference but if you have the room go for it. Carpet, wood, foam, legs, spray adhesive and screws and thats about it. Have fun building it And the most important thing is pics when you are done
