Several films have now just been listed on there, mainly some William A. Wellman films with several others scattered in there (and several others were listed as well alongside these that have already been released by KL and other labels too). Not sure how many of these would be potential releases for an upcoming KL Universal deal, but it's worth noting since I have seen some stuff get listed on Park Circus by Universal prior to it showing up in a future deal. That said, I wouldn't take something being listed there as an absolute guarantee for showing up in future deals (I've seen some films be listed and not show up in future deals despite the listing), but it does seem to be representative of what Universal is making available to labels. Each film has had the respective Park Circus listing linked below on the list.

Chinatown Nights (1929)
The Man I Love (1929)
Woman Trap (1929)
The Royal Family Of Broadway (1930)
Young Eagles (1930) (the KLI had mentioned a long while back when someone asked about this film that they had asked Universal for it, but it was unavailable for legal clearance reasons. Not certain if the recent Park Circus listing changes things)
Working Girls (1931)
The President Vanishes (1934)
Daughter Of Shanghai (1937) (note the KLI had mentioned around the time they did the Anna May Wong boxset that they had asked for this film, and it was unavailable for legal reasons. Not certain if the recent Park Circus listing has changed anything)
Wells Fargo (1937)
Letter Of Introduction (1938)
Men With Wings (1938)
Reaching For The Sun (1941)
Unfinished Business (1941)
Moonlight In Havana (1942)
Frenchman's Creek (1944) (4K DCP) (Film Foundation/Universal restoration. The listing has been there prior, but it has now been just updated with a 4K DCP.)
Till We Meet Again (1944) (4K DCP) (New Universal restoration. The listing has been there prior, but it has now been just updated with a 4K DCP.)
The Searching Wind (1946)
To Each His Own (1946) (4K DCP) (The listing may or may not be new, although the 4K DCP is definitely new. The KLI had previously said this film was "with another label" (that statement was a long while ago, so if nothing has changed, the other label is likely Criterion), so likely not available to KL unfortunately)
Another Part Of The Forest (1948)
Comanche Territory (1950) (DCP) (this has had some foreign Blu-ray releases, that plus the listed DCP confirms an HD master does exist)
Bronco Buster (1952)
The Black Shield of Falworth (1954) (has a UK Blu-ray from Eureka and several other foreign releases, so an HD master does exist)
The Naked Dawn (1955)
Charlie Bubbles (1968) (has a UK Blu-ray from Indicator, so an HD master does exist)
Death Of A Gunfighter (1969) (has a UK Blu-ray from Indicator, so an HD master does exist)
The Lost Man (1969)

Several of the Wellman films listed above are noted by Park Circus to be playing this month at a Wellman retrospective by La Cinémathèque Française. The films all appear to be screening in 35mm, but I'm not certain if these are newly restored prints. The retrospective listings are here (in French).

In addition, the listings for Million Dollar Legs (1932) and Six Of A Kind (1934) have been up there for a while, but it appears those listings have just been updated to show DCPs listed as available for both films, which would seemingly confirm they have HD masters. For the former film, I believe this was already brought up in this thread earlier, but I just noticed the latter film had one as well while looking at the other films.

Also, from the Film Foundation, they've listed some new restorations of Universal films that haven't made it onto disc yet - you can see the listings here:

A House Divided (1931) (this is listed on Park Circus as well, but no DCP is listed there)
The Texas Rangers (1936)
Incendiary Blonde (1945)
Very cool find. It seems the French Cinemateque in Paris is having a William Wellman retrospect and that's why these were added to Park Circus.

And as far as To Each His Own and Frenchmen's Creek are concerned, the 4K DCPs have been on the Park Circus website for a few months now Apparently, according to KLI, the latter has legal issues, but the absence of the former on disc suggests Criterion is sitting on it. Fingers crossed.

Kino--and other labels--have done quite a number of direct disk ports of StudioCanal, BFI and other UK and similar foreign releases/restorations in the recent past. Cheaper than preparing it themselves from raw scans or even from a prepared restoration.

Since Kino already mentioned earlier this year that they'd be releasing a new (4K?) version of DEAD OF NIGHT, I think it's a high probability the Kino release will be pretty much identical disks, but without the fancy booklet/packaging/ephemera from StudioCanal. That would be my preference: I'm just not interested in paying extra for extra packaging (though depending on the release the quality booklets can be worth paying extra for).

Elephant films is releasing a Mitchell Leisen box set on November 25 and both films are included. Hopefully the discs for both films carry their recent restorations. And I also hope they are released individually shortly after.

Modern Love, a 1929 Charley Chase "goat gland" silent/talkie, is also listed on Park Circus as available from Universal though no DCP is noted. It was restored some years back, and it has played at various film festivals. It would be nice to see that one released.

While not noted on Park Circus, another Universal silent that was restored well more than a decade ago is the 1928 Laura La Plante feature Finders Keepers. What is notable and intriguing about this film is that, as far as I know, this is the only Universal silent that has survived in its camera negative. How it managed to escape the 1948 purge is a tale I would love to learn. Alas, after playing at a few film festivals around 2011, it has just been another restoration that sits on a shelf. I've been hoping that it might emerge from one of the Universal deals, and it would make a nice companion feature to the already confirmed HD upgrade of The Love Trap ( *hint*hint*).

According to the Elephant Films Facebook page, To Each His Own is being released on its own.

Kino are also releasing a complete series + movie set for Monk in November as well. It does slightly sting for those collecting them individually as this set is much cheaper.

https://kinolorber.com/product/monk-...e-series-movie

Quote:
He’s obsessive. He’s compulsive. He’s Monk, “TV’s most original sleuth ever” (Los Angeles Times). The marvelous Tony Shalhoub cleans up crime and grime galore in the beloved series that critics hailed as “fresh, exciting and utterly original” (Chicago Tribune). Once upon a time, Adrian Monk was a rising star with the San Francisco Police Department, but he lost his nerve, his mind and then his badge. Now, this obsessive-compulsive detective is determined to get back on the force by solving one crime at a time in “the best detective show to come along in decades” (New York Post). Chock-full of hilarious guest stars and packed with every episode from all 8 seasons (2002-2009), this ultimate Monk collection also contains Mr. Monk’s Last Case: A Monk Movie, the 2023 telefilm that finds Tony Shalhoub and his cast-mates back in action!

Good to see these Abbott and Costello movies coming. I think I'll wait for the boxed set to eventually arrive (though the slipcovers on the individual releases could be a deal breaker )

So is Death Wish 2 another acquisition from the MGM deal? Will there be a separate 4K release?

I'm in for that Death Wish collection, and the two Ninja films in 4K, and also that Alec Guinness collection, but other than that everything else just doesn't appeal, or interest me.

**BANNING (1967) was released August 28, 2024 by IMPRINT. Looks like Imprint/ViaVision has sold out on their website at this point. Should Kino-Lorber release "Banning" I would double-dip.
Hello.

*ANGEL IN MY POCKET (1969) and *ROSIE! (1967) could also use a release. Neither UNIVERSAL Picture has been issued to homevideo before.

Glad the Nov schedule is posted here. Tried looking for it on HTF but I hate that site. They have two Kino threads, if you post the wrong thing on the wrong thread you get that Harris (or Crawford, can't tell the difference) guy bellyaching. I couldn't find the schedule anyway lol.

I guess if Kino has the entire Death Wish series that confirms a new Lionsgate deal. I don't know who would want to backtrack and buy Blu-ray editions of these films aside from Blu-ray-only people.

Yeah, I can't imagine people, at least, triple dipping on some of these titles on Blu-ray.

It doesn't, since they've already released DW5.
