The best movie to showcase destruction and loss of life was Man of Steel which is why there was such a backlash. Before and since, destruction in blockbusters has been abstract and a little cartoony. I had a visceral reaction to MoS as did many, hence why in BvS they were constantly calling out the area is deserted.

The destruction in Superman 2025 is cartoony in comparison, not that there is anything wrong with that.

It's not believable. It's lame plot armor. They evacuated millions of people in a few hours? It leads to a lack of dramatic stakes. Man of Steel had real stakes, both for Superman and Metropolis.

In 10 minutes if I remember correctly.

The point is that the destruction didn't look real. There is actually a shot of the buildings side on and tumbling like dominoes.

I would assume that BVS takes place less than a year after Man of Steel?
Was Metropolis still wrecked in that movie?

The destruction in Superman (2025)? Yes, it looked silly and unconvincing. The destruction in Man of Steel was visceral and scary.

BvS takes place 18 months after Man of Steel and there is clearly construction happening in the wake of the attack. The way I understood it was the park where the Superman statue is located is ground zero of the attack, similar to the 9/11 memorial.

No, I do not believe they are "afraid" of the certification board. If anything, they'd just release an edited version for the UK...

All the darkness and edginess of MoS is really undercut by the product placement. Sears has a big role in that movie.

And IHOP. There should have been a scene Quiet Man style where Supes and Zod take a break from the fight and have a stack of hotcakes and a cup of coffee.
