Question Sony PSP Question

I realize this section is for PS3 and BD Games but, i felt like this would be the most appropriate place to ask. I have been thinking about getting a PSP (mostly for watching UMD Movies on) but also for select games. I just feel like it would be really good for car rides and if you feel like watching a movie and you're not at home. My question is how is the picture quality for UMD Movies? I am aware of the quality of the games but have never seen or found anything on the quality of the actual screen/movie itself. I'm assuming its rather good but just wanted to see if anyone knew from experience how it looks. If anyone could help feel free to add anything you feel would help me better decide if its worth the purchase or not.

P.S. - A few of the movies that i would be getting with it -- Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill Vol. 1, Kill Bill Vol.2, Snatch, and eventually some others. Thanks.

its pretty good, better then i expected. its only 2.5" but it seems bigger and its much bigger then the ipod video screens, but if you want it for just movies i'd suggest a zune maybe. (if you feel like ripping your movies yourself instead of UMDs)

There is a PSP forum at the top of the PS3 forum. Just FYI

I have never been big on UMD movies as I don't want to buy two versions of a movie, or a version I can only watch on a PSP. There have been a select few movies, I think about 2 or 3 anime titles, that come with a DVD and UMD of the film. The picture quality is close to DVD quality. Not bad for a handheld with a 2.5" screen.

I would almost suggest getting a large size memory stick for the PSP and play movies from there. The PSP should support up to a 4gb memory stick. There are also programs that let you convert a DVD to a format the PSP can handle. I am not sure as to how much space the film would eat up, but it would very depending of course on length and quality.

I have a PSP and a few UMD's including Kill Bill 2. The picture quality is just about the same as DVD but its on the PSP small screen so it looks good.

The only UMD movie i have is Spiderman 2 because I have a launch PSP and it came with it. It looks just fine. I cant wait to get my spidey on Blu next month though.

Also, if you do get a new PSP, you get the video out function. You just have to buy the cables. Now granted the movies wont look as good on a large HDTV as they do on a 2.5" screen. Just letting you know you can do that. Stick with Blu on your TV's. hehe

I've had a PSP since it launched in North America and the only umd movie i own is spiderman because it came in the bundle. Spiderman looked great but i just can't justify the cost of buying umd movies when you can convert any movie to avc with pspvideo9. So i suggest getting a cheap Lexar 4gb memory stick duo and convert your movies instead of spending $10-$20 for a umd movie you might watch once.

PSP screen does look so small, but it is a better deal than watching it in iPOD (an even smaller screen)
Quality is DVD quality, but the most irritating things is that you have to re-buy UMD (after you owned the movie in DVD)

I just picked up The 5th Element for $5 (new) at Wal-Mart. They also had Spiderman 2 fo $5. The movie conversion process wit PSPvideo9 seems like a long process. I bought 123movies2PSP. Come to find out the damn thing doesn't work. Some encoder error keeps popping up and the website is NO help. I'm just out of $30 bucks. Oh well, sharing is caring.

I have used my PSP everyday since i've gotten it, which was two months after launch, I love it and I usually hate handhelds.

oh and you can get cheap UMD's at Gamestop, they had some new ones for $4 or $6 awhile back.
