Default Your thoughts on the Sony PSP?

Just out of curiosity guys, for those of you that own a Sony PSP, what do you think about it? Do you think you got your money's worth in it as a portable gaming device, etc? I know many people in the past argued it as unnecessary and a means of Sony channeling another proprietary format, etc. I owned one until about a month ago and sold it because I no longer even played it, but used it once in a while for music playback - ended up using my mobile phone as my primary mobile music playback device. Anyhow, what are your thoughts on the PSP? Do you think a PSP2 is on the way?

I shunned the device, laughed at UMD movies and didin't care for portable gaming in general for years. This summer I finally decided to check one out since I was really enjoying my PS3. When the slim was announced I decided to pick one up. I couldn't be happier.

As a gaming device, it is pretty neat. I've used it on a couple plane trips already. The multimedia aspects are what really turned me on to it. Video looks really good and I even picked up a few UMD discs ($3.99 on black friday) for it. The best thing that has happened to it for me was the latest update which gave it internet radio. I'm now using it every day instead of waiting to use it for traveling. It is like having free XM or Sirius radio.

The downside is that the slim model doesn't work with any of the speaker systems out there. I bought the really nice Nodus system and the connections are different. I can at least plug in a cable from the PSP to the speaker's auxilary but that's it. Because I like the music aspects of the PSP I might purchase an old core system to use just for that.

Overall I'm pretty happy with it. I haven't heard anything about a PSP2. Probably not for another couple years. If they do I hope they add another analog stick and perhaps even add the sixaxis tilt type function. Could make for cool games.

I owned both Classic and Slim and I love it! You can use Remote Play via PS3 on your PSP. You can now stream Divx from PS3 to your PSP anywhere in the world that has WiFi connection. The good thing is that Slim has Video Output to connect your PSP to HDTV. Slim allow to view picture, watch movie, play game and surf on the net via AV Component. Even Customed Firmware allow to view homebrew game in fullscreen. I mean I can't stop using Slim because of all of the apps, medias and games can handle. I'm looking forward to buy UMD recorder as a next mini High Definition DVD (little Blu-Ray's brother)!

I think the PSP is one of the best portable devices ever. You can play games on it, listen to music, and watch movies. It is a nice system with a neat design and it fits in your pocket without any trouble. I have owned two of them but had to sell them. They are worth the money and I payed $250.00 for my two when they first came out. Hope to get a slim one later. Just be sure to get the grand theft auto's for it, they will blow you away.
