Iguess thats a design flaw with the receiver but I have heard good and bad about this kind of setup maybe you can help me with. Good that the audio has its own cable so it would be clearer or the bad that the HDMI is the best for both? What do you think?
Unfortunately lossless audio doesn't transmit over optical. If you want to see what the fuss is about, you'd need to either upgrade your receiver to one that can handle audio via HDMI OR if your receiver has analog multi channel inputs you could get a blu-ray player that has analog multichannel outputs.
