When these TV's are properly calibrated the colors will look no different than a properly calibrated plasma....this is assuming both sets produce relatively accurate colors of course.

Now, there are some LED LCD's that I like a lot and in some cases I would take one over certain plasmas. The LG LED set is one of the best released this year. In the HDTV shootout it came in third behind the Pioneer Kuro and the Samsung B860. That's very impressive because for one it produces excellent blacks though not on Kuro or Panasonic V10 levels, and it is highly adjustable in the menu awarding it a very accurate picture. Its color accuracy is the main reason it beat out the Panasonic V10. This is also the reason the Samsung B860 came ahead...its color accuracy. The LG and the V10 both produce deeper blacks than the B860 though.

Right now Best Buy has the 55" LG on sale for $1999.99 which is a very good price. I've seen this set myself and I can tell you that it truly is very impressive. I was surprised at how uniform the screen is on this set. You should also look at THIS new Sharp 52" LED for $1599.00 shipped. Chad B over on avsforum has an excellent review on it and its a winner.

You should consider the Panasonic V10 as an option too since it will give you the best blacks. Just compare...the other sets are a little more accurate, but you may prefer the more realistic blacks of the Panny. If you want more real estate then consider a 58" Panasonic S1 or a 58" Samsung B650...the B860 if you can get a good price on it and your budget allows for it.
thanks a bunch, this was very helpful and appreciated. i will be looking at this tv's this week and comparing. i do realize that the ones at the stores are not calibrated and turned way up. still something drew me in to the led PQ, it was amazing. thanks again
