Default Samsung LED LCD TV's

Any one out there have a 900 series Samsung with the LED lighting with super high 2,000,000:1 Dynaminc Contrast Ratio? Does it look that good? ALso wondering if any one knows if they will be using this new LED lighting in any of there lower series like the 600 or 700 series and when they might be available.

I'm not sure about the LCD's, but the Samsung LED DLP's are wonderful.

No they won't be in their lower series, that is why they are the lower series. They look alright. I havent been a huge fan of Samsung's "dynamic contrast ratio" claims. All that really matters is their native contrast ratio which is no better than anyone else with LED backlighting (such as Sony and LG). They juice up their contrast so much, that all though the blacks are blacks and whites are white, the gradation from black to white suffers, it isn't a very smooth gradation with samsung. As you can tell I am very picky though.

I am very picky as well and I am with you the whole Dynamic Contrast Ratio is a scam. So one can not go wrong with a 600 series or 700 series, the LED does not make much difference? What are your thoughts.

I saw one of these in my local Visions store a couple of months ago. Very impressive, but not as good as the plasma that was right next to it.

that's odd, sense these were just available on amazon through a 3rd party broker just a couple weeks ago, and all the stores i've talked to said they have no idea when they are getting them in. I think you might of seen the 850, which isn't led backlight.

I just went to BB and they said in certain markets they have test models out. I did like the 850, looked real sharp but then I looked at the 50' Pioneer KURO and nice very nice.

2,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio is just ridiculous; like people are really going to see the difference. Most HDTVs do look nice but they differ in many ways. I was at BB the other day talking to an associate and I noticed that the Panasonic Vierra stood out a lot more than the others from a far distance.

I saw the LCD 9 series in the store playing Pirates on Blu, and it looked pretty phenomenal. I own the LCD a750 series, and it's a beautiful television. I initially purchased the SONY KDL46W4100 but after suffering from the sparkle problem and bad clouding, I decided to go with Samsung 7 series, and I'm glad I did. PQ is amazing--the halo issue on the set is a non-issue for me. In Sony's defense though, they released firmware for the sparkle problem so that's an issue that appears to be fixed currently.

Dynamic contrast ratios are just bs, all that matters is native contrast.

I think there could be a lot of potential with the LED's, but they have "local backlighting" meaning that they can't shut off light to each individual pixels, but only a group of pixels. It is evident on a dark screen when there is a halo where the pockets of LED's are turned on. The actual onscreen/native contrast ratio of an LCD haven't really exceeded 3000:1, whereas plasma have a native of 30000:1, and the kuro is at about 50000:1. LCD's are definitely bright and crisp with great color, but for the best I am still looking towards plasma at the moment until OLED comes around.

I am defiently leaning towards that Pioneer KURO, just seemed to have a nice clear natural looking picture and I am glad to see that it has a true native contrast ratio of 50,000:1, I so hate the Dynamic crap, just trying to build up what is really not there.

Companies get their money by attempting consumers by "Wowing them" with large numbers and trying to make people think the larger number the better. (Which is a bunch of horseshit)

There have been a number of Samsung LED backlit LCD models on the market for months and months now.

I have not seen it yet. I believe magnolia home theaters have some to show and sell. Other than that, Cnet rates the 950 as the #1 LCD available and number 3 on the overall list with the Pioneer PDP-5020FD at #2 and the Panasonic TH-50PZ800U at #1. They have videos too on the tv's to explain stuff they like/dislike or else you can read about it. http://reviews.cnet.com/best-hdtvs/
