Did anyone see this? Was it any good?

Just imagining the giant food visuals in HD tempted me to pre order it, but the transfer looked as if it lacked brightness, in other words a little dark/dim.
Also was it good story wise and all, anywhere near Pixar? Please let me know without spoilers, please.

Nnnnno. No, no, no.

(My heart sank in literally the opening frame of the film, when we see the credit "A Film By A Lot Of People".
And the humor doesn't get any less slacker-smug or human-fly hyperactive from there--Imagine "Family Guy" trying their hand at a straightforward Pixar imitation, and failing. BADLY.)

It wasn't bad. I was a fan of the book since I was a kid. Granted, the book didn't actually have a storyline to it, but this movie did it fairly well. There are a lot of grown-up jokes and some tongue-in-cheek moments. Overall it was a good movie and I'll probably buy it when it comes out.

Watching a non-Pixar animated movie was fine to me, and this one looked good.

I loved it. Pure fun, food glorious food. I don't like Pixar movies because it's as though they are made only to do two things - try to win awards and sell toys of their talking animal / toy / car characters and I can't see past that. I don't care about the acclaim.

This film could have been made live action. It would probably be the most expensive movie ever made beyond Jim Cameron's movies, but it could have been done.

This title will be released digitally Dec 8, fully a month earlier than physical media Owners of Bravia TVs and networked Sony Blu players will have the opportunity to purchase and download it for $24.95. Hmmm, is Sony possibly exploiting their film and hardware business relationship...hmmm Anyway, exhibitors are fuming over this decision...BAD Sony BAD Sony
