Yah, that's why MS lost almost $2,000,000,000 on RROD! Doing it right?

Muhwahahahahaha!!

LOL, I think these typical HD-DVD'ers should spend a little more time in school learning how to speak English rather than worrying about format wars.

MS did it right? how do you enjoy playing Halo in 640p? I hope XBOX Live has faster downloads since you're paying $50/month. BTW, I didn't know you can download firmware for your XBOX's HD DVD player. Oh wait, you can't. So I guess that BD is the one missing Lossless Audio, oh wait that would be HD DVD. Incomplete formats? Why is it that all BD Player can support 1080p and all HD DVD players can't? Before you start talking about price, lets compare apples with apples. HD DVD sucks!

No. You'll need a different pickup design in order to handle 4 layer, never mind 8 layer. Multilayer Blu-ray beyond 2 layers is for data storage purposes like on computers, and in hi-def video cameras.

PS. Guys, don't feed the troll - he'll be back under his bridge where he belongs soon enough.

@ Troll 1984,

Please stop attempting to murder the Queen's English. I know that time is limited for those working menial labor jobs, but please take an online course when you are able to pry yourself away from the fry vat you have been working since you dropped out of school at sixteen.

@ Mods,

Can somebody please provide an explanation why trolls are unable to post a message without several spelling or grammatical errors?

I like trolls. To be specific, I am fascinated why they are unable to articulate proper FUD.

Trolls should be forced to register and pass a series of tests, including reading and writing at the grammar school level. In addition, salary disclosure should be required. If trolls do not clear the median income of the average American, then how can trolls be expected to educate the average American with their FUD. Freedom of speech can only go so far.

Redman, go to a Yahoo chatroom - that's more appropriate for your level of maturity and knowledge. This forum unlike AVM$ is not going to tolerate flame baits and trolls like you.
Mods, please fumigate this parasite off the surface of this forum ...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAaaahahaha...... HAHAHAHAHAHAhahahahahaha.... oh man... do you know how much that type of connection costs? obviously not or you wouldn't have lied so blatantly. The only way your "friend" could afford that type of internet connection to his home would be if his name was Bill Gates.

And now we see just how desparate and afraid the hd-duds are. Their format is not long for this world and they are gasping for air. Sad really.

Well, fortunately Halo 3, their franchise title that is getting somewhat lacklustre press (freeze-ups, only 640p upscaled) sold $170 million on the first day. So, the deficit is somewhat, ummmm, minorly reduced.

Remember when Halo 3 was going to make the 360 profitable? I'm sure they took RROD charge last year so it had a shot from an accounting perspective. But, overall, Xbox (old and new) has a $7 billion deficit to climb out from.

Ok, back to the topic at hand. This player... http://www.engadget.com/2007/10/03/h...ay-disc-drive/

I think it is great and definately the way to go for the future of blu-ray. As I understand layered reading, it has to do with the intensity of the beam reading the content on one layer and not seeing the other. In theory, this is a possible firmware update for our players. Unless, the intensity required is out of spec for that particular machine.

Will be a while before we see it, so not worried.... unlike the HD-DVD camp.

i think this is great news, b/c Bluray is still a young technology so it's never too late to have drives and hardware retrofitted so that they can use these discs.

Anyone else find it interesting that even the non-native english speaking BD supporters from places like the pacific rim can communicate better in english than native english speaking HD-DVD fanboi trolls?

Just an interesting observation.
