The difference between the theatrical and extended versions is only 3 minutes; 115 vs. 118 minutes. According to the AVS scientists (just kidding) the disc size of the theatrical is 26,688,724,992 bytes vs. 27,402,006,528 bytes for the extended version. If the video bitrate "sort of suffered", it's not from including the extra 3 minutes on the same disc accessed via seamless branching.

hi all, i have a problem and would be very gratefull if any ideas could be thrown my way (i'm a little numb).
I have just bought terminator salvation from tesco's and when i played it first time it stuck on the menu and wouldn't allow me to select any option whatsoever with either the remote control or by pressing play on the blu ray player, (lg-bd370), I then tried it on my (samsung 1500) other player and it worked fine, and then as a final option i tried both uk and us discs in my LG and they worked fine, so I took the disc back (thinking the disc may be faulty) and got another one only to find that the same senario again, if there is any help to be had in trying to get it to work on my main (LG) player i'd appreciate it. yours hopefully ![]() setec astronomy |

This reminds of the time The Matrix was first released on DVD and many people had problems playing it. |

Same issue on my new Philips BDP3000 which I have encountered with Escape From New York on DVD region 2 a few years aback on my Pioneer DV-525.
Menu just locked-up! I tried it on one my other two DVD players except for my Sony which had layer changing issues as it was getting on a bit. It ran fine on the Cello DR-810. I don’t see why I should or anyone else should buy a second Bluray just to get one sodden Bluray to work! I spoke to Philips consumer and was surprised that the issue had some many reports on Samsung and LG Bluray players and the (jarva menu) which is the cause of problem will be resolved in about 3 weeks time. I tried two of the same Bluray title and ASDA funny enough hadn’t had any recalls, so I guess some of the customers that brought a Philips BDP3000 about 3 to 4 weeks ago haven’t brought Terminator Salvation, yet? I’m not sweating the issue if its being looked into, software huh, sigh. One thing this would never happen with 35/70mm film well maybe with the odd hard-disc digital format which I have encountered first hand in the cinema, now then! It only means I have to buy the Bluray again because I lost my rag with Terminator Salivation and swapped it for some afterburning Top Gun because I feel the need the need for LFE.1! yeah- did the firmware upgrade to my sony 300 yesterday...and Terminator Salvation now plays just fine!
And FYI- anyone looking...I'm actually selling an extra copy of the UK edition, complete in case & new, just no artwork (would be like $18 US for shipping to UK)! Checkout the thread: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=117787 |

I just want to say the UK version has indeed reference PQ and AQ!
I know what a good picture is, the UK didn't suffer from being only on one disc. The US is a two disc with theatrical cut on the first (?) and directors cut on the second as well all know. The UK use seamless branching for the cuts, therefore only about 3 min. more than one disc has on the US. That doesn't matter! |
