According to DVD Times (http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=67905) three John Carpenter films will be released in England on August 4th:
Escape From New York Return to Escape from New York (23 mins) New and exclusive John Carpenter interview (31 mins) 3 x original trailers Snakes Crime (deleted original intro) 5.1 Audio Commentary The Fog Tales From The Mist (30 min documentary) Teaser & Theatrical Trailer Commentary 5.1 Audio They Live EPK – 8 min ‘making of’ featurette Commentary The same films are scheduled to be released in France by Studio Canal a couple of months later. Does anyone know who controls these films here and whether there's any chance we'll get them too? |

MGM controls both Escape from New York and The Fog while Universal controls They Live. So far, I haven't heard anything yet. But hopefully soon for Escape from New York and The Fog! I can do without They Live. |

I got the uk EFNY around this time last year, without ever seeing a review (something i never normally do) and when i put it on i did to be truthfull at first think 'oh dear' at the PQ, i then went and got my dvd and put that into my upscaling pioneer dvd and i couldnt beleive how bad it was compared to the bd, the blacks were positively grey on most scenes and the sound was nigh on s***e.
This is my first post and i dont claim to be the most knowledgeable person on br's or high end equipment but what i do know is (even if it is a sd master, which i didnt know) then EFNY is 10times better than the old DVD release, anyone who says BR's aint a genuine leap in quality must have crap in their eyes. So while not 100% amazing compared to some transfers, EFNY is certainly a marked improvement over what is already available. Only my opinion though. |
