United Kingdom Escape from NY, The Fog, They Live

According to DVD Times (http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=67905) three John Carpenter films will be released in England on August 4th:

Escape From New York
Return to Escape from New York (23 mins)
New and exclusive John Carpenter interview (31 mins)
3 x original trailers
Snakes Crime (deleted original intro)
5.1 Audio
Commentary

The Fog
Tales From The Mist (30 min documentary)
Teaser & Theatrical Trailer
Commentary
5.1 Audio

They Live
EPK – 8 min ‘making of’ featurette
Commentary

The same films are scheduled to be released in France by Studio Canal a couple of months later.

Does anyone know who controls these films here and whether there's any chance we'll get them too?

MGM controls both Escape from New York and The Fog while Universal controls They Live. So far, I haven't heard anything yet. But hopefully soon for Escape from New York and The Fog! I can do without They Live.

I'll take Escape and They Live, I'll pass on The Fog.

Hopefully we get them around the same time.

This is the 20th Anniversay of They Live. Makes sense to have a release ready.

If these are coming around the same time, an announcement should be coming soon. However, MGM has been very slow at getting titles out so i wouldnt be surprised if we dont see these for awhile.

Hopefully they don't region-lock it. I'd love to get The Fog on blu-ray.

They Live and Escape from New York need a US release. I will buy the titles, but not spend the extra $$$ for importing.

I would recommend that you avoid it as it is one of the worst transfers out there.

THE FOG is apparently a very poor quality release as well. I'll wait for an AMerican BD release, and hope it's region free. The r1 MGM DVD I've currently got of it is pretty poor.

I should also say that The Fog is missing ALL of the extras mentioned above. Any idea why they were dumped??

I got the uk EFNY around this time last year, without ever seeing a review (something i never normally do) and when i put it on i did to be truthfull at first think 'oh dear' at the PQ, i then went and got my dvd and put that into my upscaling pioneer dvd and i couldnt beleive how bad it was compared to the bd, the blacks were positively grey on most scenes and the sound was nigh on s***e.

This is my first post and i dont claim to be the most knowledgeable person on br's or high end equipment but what i do know is (even if it is a sd master, which i didnt know) then EFNY is 10times better than the old DVD release, anyone who says BR's aint a genuine leap in quality must have crap in their eyes.

So while not 100% amazing compared to some transfers, EFNY is certainly a marked improvement over what is already available.

Only my opinion though.

Same here. As much as I love They Live, The money it'll take for it to be imported just isn't nearly worth it.

"I am here to chew bubble gum and kick ass, and I'm all out of bubble gum!" If They Live has a US release, I'll pick that up in a heartbeat.
