As far as I know, the PS3 won't read 'data discs' so to speak.

What you could do, is convert Xvid files to Blu-ray video/audio streams and put that on a BD-R. That would work perfectly.

You'll need a BD authoring tool to do that.

Otherwise, putting Xvids on a USB stick or external HDD in FAT32 format will also play fine.
