I just posted it on HD-DVD.com......Toshiba claims it's unofficial and will see what testing will reveal.

First post after mine:

If that happens, I will be the first one to stick my 2 fingers up at Toshiba and make a video on youtube, bashing the 2 hd dvd players I have.
Also, if that was true, Toshiba would never come out with 5 new HD DVD based laptops. They'd only be screwing themselves up. Not to mention, their A35 players will get returns so would A3 and A30. They'll lose a lot of money. Everyone would be furious.

We will see how scorched I will be when they say 'oh hes a BD supporter, this is just FUD', and I get banned with my 2 post counts over there lol. Maybe I should start a poll on how fast my post will be deleted and me banned for life lol.

This is a huge blow to HD DVD if this holds true, or Toshiba finds a way around the lens issue. Can very well determine the outcome of the format war.
At least one mod on AVS is truthful enough to dispose of the charade that AVS is a “neutral” site and not a propaganda vehicle for the HD DVD format overseen with pro-HD DVD moderation.

I am sad to hear this as well as many others will be. I asked my source why and he told me that Target's buyer made the decision and the store follow what they decide.

IMO: the choice for the larger BD section is based on early 2007 data when BD had the momentum in feb/march/april. BEFORE the Paramount/DW announcement and other things that got the momentum shifted the other way in favor of HD DVD. I believe that Target will watch the holiday season and readjust if necessary afterwards if sales favor HD DVD.

I asked if they will have HD DVD stand alone players on the shelves (they already sell the 360 AO drive), and I was told most likely they will carry some players before holiday time.

I find it refreshing when somebody speaks their mind.
I wish that the whole administration of that forum would cowboy up and just state that they prefer the HD DVD format, just like Bill Hunt did with his preference to the Blu-ray format.

Man those red ants won't quit will they. Any time they have something negative to say about Blu-Ray it will stay up there. Now when something pops up that is negative toward HD-DVD they close the thread and make it seem like their site is neutral B.S. I can't wait to the website disappears.

Maybe Toshiba is trying to make HD-DVD the new computer... After 6th months your player is obsolete and you need to upgrade to a new one. hahaha

You know they won't post anything about the 51g disc till after the x-mas season so they don't lose customers. And like i said before whos gonna wanna buy a 51g back up disc when they can get a 100g? lol

Who's going to want a 51gb or 100gb disc that's take for-freaking-ever to burn even at 4x when they can buy a 500GB external hdd and copy the contents of an entire drive in a matter of minutes?

Fact is, NEITHER format is good enough for data purposes.

Dude, this isn't TIVO. Eventually hard discs fill up. Worse, when they break, you tend to loose everything. A disk that size only holds 10-20 movies, depending on BD25 or DB50 being the original.

Besides, the point of BD+ is to STOP "personal copies" aka, Piracy.

thing is its kind of harder to have muti HDD to lug around
the disk are more for data backup or master load disks that were they can and will shine
also if i going some place i rather take a disk then a HDD
the disk is smaller and if it brake i not out mega $$

I'd rather take a 100gig BD disc with me than the smallest ex-drive.

Didn't they say at 4x the 50g would take about 20 mins to complete a full burn? Not very long IMO. Try transfering 50g over USB 2.0 haha
