Gotta agree with you here, ditch-digger. Sure, $699 is a great deal, but so is $799!!! Didn't that projector retail between $1500 and $2000 just a few months ago?

Thumbs up

I can't believe the price you paid for it. Now I'm thinking of picking up a projector.

Tweaked my settings a bit more.

Color Mode: Theatre Black 1
Brightness: -7
Contrast: -2
Color saturation: 6
Tint: 0
Sharpness, then click advanced, options from top to bottom are 0, 0, 3, 3
Color Temp: 6500
Skin Tone: 0
Brightness control: High
Auto Iris: Normal

Also got to advanced, and set gamma at 2.2.

In the advanced menu go into the RGB menu and set the options as follows:
-10
0
-2
-6
-6
-8

Next go to the signal menu and then select advance advanced.
Noise Reduction: Off
Epson Super White: Off
Output Scaling: 100%
HDMI Video Range: Expanded

Also make sure your blu-ray player is outputing with expanded on as well and superwhite off.

What are you using to adjust your RGB settings? I have set my basics using DVE but did not want to mess with RGB.

exactly...in fact read up. the differences between this and the 8100 are subtle at best.... and an optoma hd20 retails for $999 and its not even in the same league...

To the OP you are one lucky sum b!%# !
I went to three BB in the Chicago land area and none had the Sanyo or the Epson. I was hoping to score one to replace my PLV-Z5 but I'm SoL so far.

Congrats on the score man!

I agree I checked four down in the Virginia Beach area and all I found was a gutless display model.

Ditch-digger did you clean out the Manchester store or did they have more then the two you and your friend bought?

Do you all think there will be other 1080P models that will soon get closed out like this to be on the lookout for??

My ultimate goal was to wait until the panny ae3000u went below $1000 (maybe this fall?) and get one of those, but who knows, for $700 I might get something else sooner.

I never ended up finding any of these deals. Fortunately, I went to my nearby Magnolia store and found a Mitsubishi HC6500. MSRP was originally $3500.00, BB list for $2499.99, had it open box for $1899.99 and I got it for $1099.99. I was sure they weren't going to go for it but they did.

I just put up a sheet and tested it. LOOKS AWESOME! Now I am heading out to get material to make a screen.

Yes, I made a screen. I wish I could weld but I can't so I used wood. I just watched the first battle scene on Braveheart and it was amazing!

I will try to get some pics up asap. Will need to wait until I get the mount and long HDMI though.
