During daytime??! Impossible! and yet amazing! My brother is always talking about projectors and I thought they were impratical unless you have a very dark room and the space but looks like I stand corrected. If you don't mind me asking how much did you pay for your screen? Cause its looking like you can get over 100 inches of Hi-def lovin for about a grand.

With 3d coming in soon I would suggest not spending anymore then $100, which may mean building your own.

I actually have some better settings for this porjector (better blacks for those that are interested). It is as follows (I realized that my equipment was cutting of below black and above white), the image is more or less the same with more shades of black.

Color Mode: Theatre Black 1
Brightness: -5
Contrast: -2
Color saturation: 6
Tint: 0
Sharpness -4
Color Temp: 6500
Skin Tone: 0
Brightness control: High
Auto Iris: Normal

Also got to advanced, and set gamma at 2.4.

In the advanced menu go into the RGB menu and set the options as follows:
-10
0
-2
-6
-6
-8

Next go to the signal menu and then select advance advanced.
Noise Reduction: Off
Epson Super White: Off
Output Scaling: 100%
HDMI Video Range: Expanded

Also make sure your blu-ray player is outputing with expanded on as well and superwhite off.

Wow! 99 shipped! This thread is going to make me amend my audio/video constitution, lol. I was eyeing a kuros, but this route might be better.

Projectors are quite cheap now and so are screens. You can easily get a 720p projector, screen and all necessary cables fr under $1,000 and for 1080p, if it is not on clearance, it would run you about $1,100 to $1,200 for an entry level 1080p projector. My LCD is 46" and cost me $1,450...my projector, screen and cables totaled $900 and now I have double the size at 92" and still an amazing looking picture! Light is just about the biggest factor to consider when purchasing a projector. Good luck!

Excellent post Fors. These points you made are precisely why I've started my research and plan on purchasing in February.

I see you are eyeing the AE4000.....you can't go wrong with that thing. It is an awesome projector. My set-up will not allow for a 2.35:1 screen (not enough room between the front towers and walls), so the AE4000's ability to change aspect from 16:9 to 2.35:1 is useless for me. If it wasn't, I would be all over this thing. It is easier to set-up everything than you think. Watching movies in my house went from just "watching a movie" to what is now "an event" and the whole family looks forward more than ever to watching a blu with the projector and screen now.

That's the whole idea! I'm so envious seeing all of the projectors and screenshots that members like yourself, crazyblue, Sean, and Todd have. I'm getting very impatient waiting for tax season to roll around. I want to join in on the fun!

But once you have it set-up, your picture quailty and size will blow mine away......and I think I have a really good quality picture for a 720p!

Thanks! I bought a new camera for Christmas, so I am hoping they can get a lot better, as I have seen some members screen shots that look absolutely amazing!

Not to de-rail ditch-diggers' thread, but really want to make a quick comment on this - I've had the Panasonic AE4000 for about 2 weeks now, and loving it. I have a 100" 16:9 screen, and prefer a 16:9 screen as I watch a lot of TV and DVD on it. With the AE4000's memory save and memory auto load functions, I zoomed a 2.35 picture so the left & right sides overlap the screen a couple inches, to get a taller picture without losing any significant detail on the sides. Then used the mask feature to block the overlap out. Then adjusted the vertical height so the bottom of the 2.35 screen is at the bottom of the screen - more at eye level, and just the one black bar at the top. Saved that to memory, and now when a blu-ray starts in 2.35 AR, it just takes the projector a few seconds to load the saved 2.35 settings and adjust everything, for the best compromise for a 2.35 movie on a 16:9 screen.

One of the many reasons I decided on the AE4000! Pictures, Duke, pictures! We want pictures!

Gotta agree with you here, ditch-digger. Sure, $699 is a great deal, but so is $799!!! Didn't that projector retail between $1500 and $2000 just a few months ago?

I can't believe the price you paid for it. Now I'm thinking of picking up a projector.
