Confirm?: Gridiron Gang for 01/07?

Saw this posted by a guy under a screen name at AVS claiming that he works for some distributor and that these were forthcoming:

Winged Migration: 1/16/07

Gridiron Gang: 1/23/07

I'd definitely be buying Gridiron Gang. Never heard of the other thing.

No idea how credible this is or isn't. I leave that to you folks to maybe dig into that a little further.

btw I just went superficially over my numbers and there are only 17 Warners available on HD DVDs not released in BD and 39 Universals.

Nearing 60% of the movies available in BD

Universal, a company with about 10% of the box office, is right now about 30% of the movies on High Def!

Universal is really pushing the releases almost half of the monthly HD DVDs have been theirs alone, either they really want to salvage the format, or they're selling as much units as they can while they can.

17 seems like a lot to me - I am wondering what is holding up the BD release of these titles.

That said, if they are waiting for any of the following capbilities: PiP commentary, TrueHD or uncomressed audio, BD-J interactivity ... I welcome the wait.

That said, when they do release these titles we will see a much larger swing towards BD in the percentages - something that the HD DVD supporters would certainly dread.

It is interesting that Universal has been so prolific. I guess that they have an all or nothing approach

Well 17 out of approx. 135 movies on high def in the US is not too much.

(If Universal didn't exist, more than 80% of high definition movies would be in Blu-ray already)

Actually, I really enjoyed Winged Migration. It's a great documentary, with some amazing photography. Makes a great demo disc. Just don't watch it when you're drowsy
