I cant remember the last game that had that option.
BIG +1 here!

I had a friend over to play some W@W split screen, and I selected Team Deathmatch, and realized, there are no other players! Complete bollocks.

While I do hate buggy games, I don't think it's just a trend... Remember SOCOM on the PS2? Lots of glitchers. I think that we're just noticing it more, because the devs are actually able to release patches now. Last gen, a broken online mode was just left that way.

Obsession over yet simplistic viewing of single-player completion time.

Bionic Commando is def the worst out of all games listed btw the control made trying to monkey around near impossible at parts and frustrated me to the point where I had to let it go.
I didn't have any issues with Bionic Commando's controls. You defintely have to take a little time to learn them but once I had them down, I had a blast in multiplayer.

True, true, but is the cost of rumble worth the "benefit"? I just don't get what the big deal with it is. Okay, so rumble's main purpose is to further immerse players in the game they're playing. But, how does a controller rumbling when you get hit mimic reality in any way? Do your hands suddenly go into seizure mode for a second?

As I mentioned it was a cool idea back in the day, but it's been 2 generations people! Are we still stuck on rumble?

Oh, it never makes or breaks a game for me. As I mentioned in my post above, its application seems somewhat dated IMO. There are more effective ways to immerse players in the games they are playing.

I suppose the one genre it would be most apt for is racing since you typically have your hands on a steering wheel.

Collecting crap to complete the game, purchase upgrades or advance from a spot.

The "Im shot, no the screen is red and I can't tell what the he'll is going on" crap.

Drab graphics.

Combination of 2 and 3. (yeah killzone 2. That's you. It's bad enough when your game has six colors, but when your shot you can't see crap, and while amazing, the particle effects don't help.

Half asses single-player modes

Annoying trophies

Obsession with trophies.

One time only find-ables in RPGs

Playing the Hero.

How about playing a Resident Evil type game as a Zombie the entire way through. Different combos mean eating different parts of the body LOL

Or a Metal Gear Solid game where you are the villain.

Or instead of Batman, The Joker.

etc

etc

I side with this. If I didn't like the first one, why would I like 3 more?

It really hurts my head because so much time is spent just updating old games that we don't get anything new and exciting in a new type of game. I don't like the Call Of Duty games, I just don't.

I blame Doom for all of this.

Yes, it would be nice if every game could be as revolutionary as Doom.

Games need to be more inventive than just putting an X on someone and shooting.

Racing games such as GT5 need more speed. It always feels slow until you brake and end up off the track on the first corner.

Vroom on the amiga - Ignore the graphics, check out the speed of the game

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bw5OfQjUxt4

If you watch most racing games on these days, they seem slow unless your doing 200mph and then obviously you can't slow down. Nobody seems to realize that the games are nowhere near reality. 100mph in my car seems like 400mph in GT5.

I wish more developers focused more on the campaigns... instead of online multiplayer. I mean going online is cool, but a lot of times I prefer playing thru a story by myself and not have to deal with the crap that happens online.

I also wish sports games would improve as a whole. Games like NBA 2k10, Madden, Smackdown vs Raw, Fight Night are all cool, but could be done soooo much better.

while i love trophies and hunting them, i have seen a few games that seem to be relying on a really stupid easy trophy list to sell games (ahem!terminatorsalvationahem!), as in "hey, our game is awful, but lets make the trophies really easy so the trophy wh!res will still buy it and maybe well get more money from the publisher so we can make an even crappier sequel!"

and yes, im not really excited about sequel after sequel without updating or making anything better, some sequels are great, and they turn into fantastic franchises, but then there are your call of dutys and guitar heros that just release game after game after game so they can make another pile of money off of fanboys, i know they sell lots of copies and make piles of money doing it, so there is no way its going to stop, but its nice to make believe

i also agree with those that brough up games with afterthough single player campaigns, i like to play online just like anyone else, but sometimes i like to play alone, either include one worth playing, or not at all

This, and also DLC that is released 2 days after the game comes out. I would welcome a message from the developer saying "we plan to support this game with DLC but have no particulars at the moment" or something along those lines. But if you already are working on marketing DLC before the game is even released, then there is an issue.

I'm not saying that they shouldn't be working on it before release, and they probably should if they want it to be worthwhile, but at least let us believe that you aren't excluding stuff that should be in the original packaging.

Every hockey game since NHL 94 not getting the feeling of skating on ice, stopping, and turning right. It feels like your floating and sliding playing hockey in a game, I don't think any of the developers have ever skated before.

The X-Station Wii 2100! Now with full body suit.

Flip over in a car? Your entire body goes through the sensation of going end-over-end!

Character gets shot? We actually stimulate pain sensors so you feel it!
