Inexpensive 27x40 frames can be found at places like Michael's Arts & Crafts or Aaron Brothers Framing. They generally are $30, but both places tend to run coupons in the Sunday newspaper ad sections each week or bi-weekly for 40% off (sometimes more) which can bring the price down to $18 or cheaper per frame.

you called it. I usually grab them at Michaels with their weekly coupon. I agree the Avatar poster could be better, but ill take what i can get.

Those frames aren't designed for higher end collectible posters (for example original Lord of the Rings, Dark Knight Joker style, etc), but for the average $10-$15 poster or a reprint, they work perfectly for people.

I will take any and all money you want to give out. LOL! I am still running very behind, but I have some new stuff in. I think you wanted to get Iron Man as well, I cant' remember if you already got them. Nothing available for Iron Man 2...hopefully I can get them, they are quite hard to get for dealers.

Hi David, feel free to email me directly at MoviePoster@comcast.net and mention you want the images of the Iron Man movie posters. They made two styles for the domestic (USA) release for the first film, the first was known as the advance teaser, the second as the final style. For the advance the studio did a great job on them, adding a UV coating that makes them quite glossy. It is a very difficult style to find, but I have them, double-sided, authentic originals in stock. I also have the final style which added the characters and the credits available, also double-sided.

Hey Kin5 sorry I haven't got back to your email, it's flooded with spam -_-

But anyways I made a thread regarding my poster size and framing here

https://forum.blu-ray.com/home-theat...big-small.html

Long story short, how would I fit my poster if the poster frame is too small/big?

e.g. My poster is 16 x 21 and the poster frame I could find for that is 16 x 20. What could I do? make a border around it?

thanks

I am trying to get the styles for Iron Man 2 (so far two domestic U.S. styles have been released and one International style) but they are proving difficult for dealers to obtain. Not sure on Machete, too soon on that one.

Well if the poster is too big for the frame, you could trim the poster down (any framer should have a nice trimmer that can make a clean line BUT I only recommend this if the poster is already a reprint/reproduction as you don't want to trim down original movie posters because it would then make them worthless from a collectible stand point. But I don't know of any original movie posters that are 16x21 inches so it may be a reprint you have, correct? Original domestic U.S. styles are 27x40 inches.

It's a french poster. It doesn't look like a reprint to me. Should I border around it then?

Jon, speaking of framing posters. I have an original 1979 ALIEN egg style poster that I'd like to frame. I don't want to mount it permanently but I'd like to display it. Right now it's still in its plastic sleeve. It is a folded style A.
Any way to hang it where the creases won't be too noticeable?

I was thinking if there was some sort of system that would press the poster from the back into the plexi to flatten it down a bit.

If there's no decent option for that I have another question. I've been looking for an ALIEN egg reprint and have found several. Unfortunately they all have the green lettering on the bottom that reads something like, "The scariest movie of all time".
Do you know if there's anything available without the lettering?

Thanks...awesome thread.

French originals, to my knowledge are roughly 40x60 inches and come folded. Unless something has changed and they made their posters smaller, but Italian and French movie posters were huge. It could be a smaller reproduction. Whereabouts did you get it? You could put a matte around it, and then get a bigger frame, but a professional framer would be your best bet, but before you go sinking a bunch of money into it, it may not be worth it, IF it is a reproduction.

First off, you are very wise not to permanently mount it (known as dry mounting). When you do that to an original movie poster, you can pretty much write off the collectibility and value of it. The only way to remove the fold lines is to have the poster "linen backed" which can be pretty expensive. There is a poster shop here in Seattle called "Innervisions", they buy posters from me, and I believe they do linen-backing for posters. The owner's name is Steve if you want to give him a call, tell him you know me, and get some advice from him on what the best way to go about doing it, as he would know more than I do. That would really be the only way to get the fold lines out for the most part. Cinemasterpieces.com also has some great images of posters that were Linen backed. I really have no experience in it, but it is form of restoration to the poster, you won't make the lines disappear completely but you can get somewhat close.

Regarding the poster without the lettering I mainly deal in posters from 1990 to upcoming releases, but I believe they did just the one poster for the original Alien release and then they did a director's cut Mylar style poster a few years ago. I believe the latter version was numbered too.

Yeah the ones you will see on eBay are basically people who took them from theaters or reproductions, the originals are quite hard to find. I expect one more style to be released probably sometime in early April.

I work at a theater and I order our posters so.....I kinda got dibs on what I want. Especially when I get a couple extras by being nice to the exhibitor reps.
