I'm a huge fan of film soundtracks. The moment I was done watching Moon I went on itunes and bought the soundtrack. listen to it almost once a day since I bought it in January. simply amazing.

Phenomenal music, Clint Mansell never disappoints. And I'm with you, Owen, that scene in Dark Knight was perfectly complemented by the score.

I feel the same way. Alice in Wonderland had a pretty good score to it but I'm kind of partial to Danny Elfman (Nightmare Before Christmas, Batman '89, Spider-Man). Though, I'm not sure if memorable "themes" is what you mean, like Indiana Jones.

I really like the soundtrack for Lord of the Rings. When the music starts at the beginning of each movie, I feel like I am in Middle Earth.

I used to listen to those constantly. Still do from time to time.

I recall reading once that Halloween (1978) was played for a test audience lacking its score (or having an unfinished score). The test audience was underwhelmed. After they heard it with the finished score, it became the hit we all know and love. I don't know if that story's true, but it seems plausible.

i know.. i was downright nearly in tears at the ending, when they killed that one Mohican Indian..
that was intense.. but they got revenge..

i also re-play
the terminator 2 theme song in my head all day every day god knows why..
i was like lord am i the only one? that thinks of that badass theme song in my head every once in awhile..
i think T2 had some of the great scores in music,

so many great films like Lord of the Rings with Great Music!

pretty much agree with all the films listed so far including req and moon. terminator 2 though, like said above, gets stuck in my head almost daily. Extremely powerful sound. Soundtrack makes or breaks a movie for me. One of the reasons why i watched moon for the 8th time today just to hear it while i was working .

what about? children of the corn my god.. that creepy music got stuck in my head a few times..
even thought i didnt exactly wanna remember that score..

but there are way too many great scores in films.. that you replay in your head over and over..
sometimes you might be Arnold out and about.. in your own perspective but really be
Gary Coleman at the mall.. pretending to be a hardass..

The soundtracks for Psycho and Vertigo are mezmorizing. l used to have the dvd of Psycho and they wanted to make a point of how the music enhances the scene so they showed ther shower scene with and without the chilling music. Without, it is not eerie but with is a different story. That scene just sends chills running up and down my spine, no matter how many times l view it.

I hate the sound and music.....I'd rather just leave the movie on mute the whole time.

OK my favorite scene in a movie due to the soundtrack is in LotR the Fellowship of the Rings. Its a small part, that wasn't even supposed to be in the film according to the content on the 4 disk extended edit. It's when everyone is on The Bridge of Khazad Dum and it begins to break apart.

The excitement of the music.. the chanting... the suspense of the images... All the looks of fear on the actors faces. Just as they make it accross music switches quickly to the upbeat prideful main theme...
I feel like the character Bastian, in The Neverending Story- during the scene when hes reading about Atreyu successfuly making it by the test of inner doubt or something- and he jumps up shouting YESSSSS when Atreyu makes it!! ha ha Thats what I did the 1st tiem i saw this LotR scene.ERR i cant wait for the extended edit on blu!!! Its going to sound so good!!!

What would the Star Wars Saga be without the outstanding scores by the
great John Williams?????

There are countless moments throughout the Star Wars Saga that only really work with the score!

A match made in heaven!

I also like the Ang Lee's Hulk soundtrack by Danny Elfman.

Wall-E has a good one too, as do so many other movies.

Soundtracks are supremely important IMHO!

The Dark Knight soundtrack was awesome. I remember downloading it shortly after seeing it in theatres and blasting it in my car while driving really really fast

I thought the music in The Book of Eli really enhanced some of the scenes, particularly near the end of the movie. Definitely got some chills.

Also, the rock music that comes on the at very end of The Hurt Locker had me doing this:
