Now don't get me wrong, there's still some good ones that manage to make it, but people like Sheamus, Kofi Kingston, Jack Swagger etc... I just don't care for. Now... why should I (being a fan ever since I was a kid in the 80's) want to like a person like Sheamus? He was brought up to Raw... beat up Jerry Lawler and "hurt" Jamie Noble, then they gave him the title. What's to like about that? The company is all about making money... but then they give the title to a guy who isn't over, doesn't have any sort of personality whatsoever and not one single piece of merchandise at the time.
Indeed.

I just don't know about it anymore. Seeing Shawn Michaels retire Monday night really put it into perspective for me. It was like part of my childhood died. That probably sounds silly, but the era he came from was what REALLY made me like wrestling. It's like they've all been wiped out and all we have left is Triple H and The Undertaker. That's freakin' sad.
I completely agree. I've been reading several articles this week (best one was on ESPN) about how Wrestlemania 26 was the end of an era, and I was even saying that when they brought Bret back, how there is literally nothing more I want to see from THAT time period. This past weekend HBK finished, Bret gained closure, and according to The Observer the character of Vince McMahon is done now too.

To address the first paragraph, I grew up a Bret Hart fan and never liked Shawn Michaels because he was always the enemy to Bret. I was loyal to one of my role models. I wonder if Cena has the same connection with kids growing up on WWE, seriously it'd be cool if so. I started with WWE/F when I was 6 so you really have to zero in and put yourself in the shoes of those little kids at RAW having a blast. Forget which forum I saw it on where one of the posters had bought his son a bunch of the new WWE figures and was seemingly going through the same process my Dad and other relatives introduced to me as a kid. I found that cool to see. To us "grown-ups" (I'm 25 this September), wrestling won't ever be that good because it was just a different era (no internet, kayfabe existed, etc.) plus we were just kids growing up, naive to how things were (read: Santa). I've just kind of accepted that it's another generations turn now to enjoy it, hopefully WWE sticks around and produces an entertaining product for these kids to grow up on. When I was a kid I didn't analyze the matches, I loved the excitement of it all, rooted for the good guys, opposed the bad guys, went to house shows with my family.

I kinda went off topic but I must've had to get that off my chest, I didn't realize how symbolic HBK finishing up may have been.

Not to completely say adults can't enjoy pro-wrestling (specifically, WWE), but in my opinion I associate the good ol' days of it to when I was a kid and wasn't so critical of the product.

EDIT: Man, that really got me thinking, pro wrestling has been such a passion of mine my whole life. There's really alot to write about and express about how it fit into the different stages of my life, it's going to be really weird when there is no Undertaker or HHH left.

I didn't think Shawn retiring would really affect me at all at first. Then Monday night, when his music hit as he was walking back up the ramp toward the back... it all just hit me. There was just something about it that made me think "Wow... this seems like a whole era just died." And I realized that the wrestling world that I've grown up with is on it's last legs and we're gonna be left with Cena and Orton to carry the torch.

Then again... what's gonna happen in 3-4 years time when the little Cena fans grow up? Will they still keep on watching? Or is this really just a phase for them that will end up with us getting stuck with a roster full of no-personality assembly line nothin's because "that's what the "fans" want"?

I officially gave up on pro wrestling when they did one skit. I don't even remember who was involved (Big Show maybe?). But it involved a dead friend or relative of one of the wrestlers and the other wrestler actually vandalizes or something like that to the casket. That was enough for me.

I miss the wrestlers from the 80s. Pay Per View actually meant something back then. You never saw two stars wrestling each other during the week and it was special when you saw them at the major events.

Mike, you sir hit the nail on the head. It's a whole new genertaions turn to enjoy the product just like we did when we were kids. I'm just glad we didn't have the internet to ruin storylines for us like they have today.

There were quite a few tasteless skits. What about Dawn Marie giving Torrie Wilson's dad a heart attack on their honeymoon? Or HHH dressed as Kane humping a manniquin that was supposed to be a video of Kane and his dead girlfriend. Mae Young getting knocked up by Mark Henry and giving birth to a hand.

Nothing comes close, but that's just me.
I think that was voted match of the year ,it was definitly the highlight of the card.

It is as good as it used to be go watch Ring of Honor

as far as mainstream wrestling goes i only watch TNA (purely for the wrestling, the storylines are weak) WWE to me hasn't been good since 2003, and the last year it has been REALLY bad the whole PG thing needs to go, the only reason i even tune in to WWE right now is because of CM punk
