Default Some good news for anime fans

Quote:
FUNimation on Blu-ray (04:33 PM EST): During the Q&A portion of the FUNimation panel, it's been relayed to us that the question came up about more Blu-ray releases. Paraphrased, the response was, "we haven't announced more, but with the way [Dragon Ball Z: Broly Double Feature] is trending,... probably more will come out.. its definitely doing well for us."
While not as enthusiastic as I would like, it is encouraging considering FUNimation has a great catalog to work with.
It is a shame that I hate Dragonball Z with such a passion that I couldn't bring myself to buy it.

Yep, I buy tons of Blurays, and enjoy great animation, but just could not bring myslef to buy dragonball Z. For some reason I have always found that show to be painful to watch.

If they will release something decent I'll buy it.

Currently I have a JP GITS:Innocence, FR Paprika, US Honneamise, and US Jin-Roh in my collection.

Would love to have the opportunity to buy more titles.

Yeah I have Ghost in the Shell and Ghost in the Shell : Innocence, and plan on importing the Patlabors and also grabbing Jin Roh when I can find it.
Hell I will buy almost ANY anime...just not Dragonball Z

I would like Ninja Scroll, Fist of the North Star: The movie, and some of the Dragon Ball Z & GT sagas

Hell, I'd love to see some more DB Z stuff on blu. I would like some original Dragon Ball even better; I can't even find that shit on DVD. It would be cool if Disney started pumping out some Ghibli films on Blu, as well.

I do not understand how a fight that determines the fate of the universe that is supposed to last only about 5 minutes takes 10+ episodes to cover. ^^; I enjoy Toriyama Akira's chara designs but when I think Dragonball, I think zzzzzzzzz.

That is why I think the original Dragon Ball is the best of the three series. It was more about Humor and story. I still like the fights in Z, but not as much as I like it when it stays true to the original spirit. The fights don't really get too drawn out until the cell saga, though.
I also love Akira's character designs, ever since Chrono Trigger.

DBZ bores me to tears. I actually think the original Dragonball has better storyline. That and it doesn't re-use the same four frames of footage for minutes on end to simulate a "fight" (ye gods I hate this about DBZ).

That said, FUNimation controls rights or distribution for quite a large catalog of anime that I'd like to see.

- Full Metal Alchemist
- Darker Than Black
- School Rumble
- Ouran High School Host Club (ok, so this is a guilty pleasure )
...among others.

Darker Than Black is a great great series that grows on you quickly, FMA is proven and would be an amazing release ( even though I hated the movie )
