i got a sylvania blu ray player a year ago and cannot get firmware updates because there's no ethernet connection. i sure hope it still plays.

i am in the same boat as u are I have an Integra that is or has no way to getting firmware updates or bd-live access plain and simply BTW Integra is a sister company of onkyo

My LG did a firmware update yesterday morning. Dunno if it was due to this or not.

you have to download it, burn it to CD, and make update using CD.

Okay, has anyone been able to play the blu-ray disc on their player without installing any recent firmware updates? I want to know what brand your player is too.

So far, all I've been hearing is that you need the update for Pioneer players, but I use Samsung/Panasonic players. No updates have been released for my makes yet and I hope that I won't have to spend 30 bucks at best buy just to get a custom update.

got it yesterday here in greece,played flawlessly on my PS3 slim with firm.3.01.Didnt have to update to 3.21..

Quick impressions after a night bleedin my eyes watching Avatar : PQ is awesome, the DVD looks blurry in comparison. The loosless sound is totally mind blowing, I can hear parts in the mix that were not as in clear in theaters. (I think the mix was adjusted for home cinema). It plays with no problem on my old school PS3.

The european disc actually as the following languages : English, French, German, and three others foreign language (magyar...).

The extra DVD is in a small, promo CD like case see my pic here https://forum.blu-ray.com/3174447-post2557.html I'll post pics of the slipcover later

I think the US disc might be a better deal for crazed collectors because it's a two discs case, and it has extra Dolby Surround mixes for US and French languages.

I have Amazon Prime and I ordered 2 copies of Avatar, 1 for a friend and 1 for me, they shipped the one to my friend yesterday, but still haven't shipped mine. I wonder if they're backordered? I went on ahead and cancelled my order, and plan on purchasing it at BB at midnight.

I just watched it with the newest firmware update on sony.com and I have a BDP-S300
