How else do you define what is generally considered good, and what is generally considered bad. By what most people who have seen it think. So as most people like it, it is therfore safe to say it is generally recieved as a good film.

Many people (many millions) here in the US think/feel George Bush Jr. was a good president too. and your point is?

hey cool you liked the movie, im just saying i will/have decided for myself if I liked it or not and for me....did not like it. cant help it if its not the popular opinion.

Seriously if it weren't for the perfect visual effects of this film it would have been panned by critics like Battle For Terra. There really is nothing great about the story. Visually it is excellent so everything else can be flushed down the toilet because of Cameron's use of new technology!

I thought it looked cringeworthy from the trailer too, but when I saw it in IMAX 3D it was a great experience where its dazzling visuals and action transcended its cliched plot and characters, earning it a sold 4/5 for me. And I'm not one to forgive films the script problems Avatar had lightly, so that's saying something. The point is I made up my own mind, but sounds like you didn't see all of it (if you only saw an hour, you didn't even see half), and were content in going against the hype for the sake of it

I agree the movie is a 'phenomenon' because of its box office, though people do seem to be forgetting that due to the 3D nature of the film, ticket prices were more expensive and thus may overstate the amount of people that actually saw it. If it had been in 2D with standard prices, it may have done incredibly well, but I'm not convinced it would've beaten Titanic.

And it is an achievement that it's based on no previous material (not quite the same as calling it 'original' because it contains more film/character cliches than the 'unoriginal' Dark Knight or LOTR which are also in the top 10). However, again this doesn't mean I have to think it is THAT amazing. It's better than Titanic, but no GWTW, ET, LOTR.

That is a very good point.

I remember back when the movie was released we had quite a few people here bashing it that either...had not seen it yet or had watched some rip off of the computer.

IMAX is insanely higher resolution than 2K.

Here is a little known fun fact:

Cameron actually pitched this movie to Fox Execs as another version of 'FernGully'...so story comparisons for this film is really no big revelation.

My apologies if this has been already asked, but did anyone who registered their blu-ray version of the movie get the coupons for the collectors edition of the movie?

I ask because I registered mine and all I saw was a link to a page to install an Avatar screensaver. Do you have to install this screensaver to get the coupons? Or will they be sending the coupons out, via email, at a later time?

Thanks in advance for you response.

What truth? Your truth?

The fact is still the fact - Avatar is a masterpiece and phenomenon. If you have a look to all stats.
