Pixar films are generally flawless and they beat Avatar hands down. Its tough to beat computer generated Animation.

Don't get me wrong, it's very good looking, but I wouldn't call it the "best" IMHO. It's probably the most grain-free transfer I've seen, but as far detail is concerned, it's not as sharp as some other movies I've watched. But then again....the movies I've watched that are *really* sharp do have quite a bit of film grain on them. So, yeah, I guess it all comes down to opinion.

Dude, the transfer is faithful to the source and it looks stupendously good too, no flaws, I have no problems saying it is the #1 movie that isn't completely CGI.
It has nothing to do with hype, my eyes are trained you know

You would think that a lot of these people buying Avatar on Blu-ray have bought BD's before and, one time or another, have noticed a little slip insert saying, "This disc was manufactured after your Blu-ray player. Your player may require an update." I mean, come on .

There was a similar story on Yahoo!. They call it a "glitch".

Easily the best I've seen too. I haven't seen either Toy Story film though. I have seen Cars, Kung Fu Panda, and Up. I guess I'd rate them about the same as Avatar, though Avatar has more three-dimensionality to it.

In my comment I am not including the Pixar films since they are 100% CGI . But even if you include Pixar films, it holds it's own.

I don't know, Avatar beats both Madagascars and I think it's at least as good as the Pixars, PQ-wise.

I see. Sorry for losing my head there before. I thought people were attacking me for my opinion.

I only watched clips of this movie last night. I'll watch the movie in full tonight and give a better opinion on this. Maybe it's different when you watch the entire movie. Maybe some scenes look better than others and I happened to not watch those better looking scenes.

It's all good, the best scenes in my opinion is the great battle at the end.
Neytiri never looked more real in my opinion, I'm not sure but it looks like they cranked the work a 100% for those scenes, anybody else agree?

Sorry, have to disagree.

Movies should look like they're intended to look, not all movies has a "clean" look.

Yea, I agree, you have the wrong perception of what high def is if thats the case. The final product can only be as good as its master. You cant turn a terd into a diamond

No but you can make a bad movie look incredible, for example Speed Racer or Underdog.
