Cano is on fire this season.

Lead's the league in batting average, hits, and a bunch of other stats.

He's trying to lead the league in HR's, but Konerko had to go and hit 2 HRs today to take the lead with 8 HRs.

So Cano decided to hit 2 himself, and is also up to 8 HRs on the year. Cano had as many HRs in tonight's game as A-Rod and Teix each have all year.

.407 batting average
33 hits
8 home runs

I know it's still early, and his stats can plummet, but I'm beginning to feel vindicated for predicting to some friends years ago that Cano was going to be one of the big stars of the Yankees down the road.

He's moved up to the 5th spot in the lineup this year, and so far it's worked well for him.

5 wins here we come 2nd to last place

Lackey still pitched good enough to win its just the bullpen... I thought this would be Bard's breakout year, but he's simply been average. Sox really need to pick there stuff up.

Giants win 5-2 over the Rockies. Barry Zito goes 4-0 for the first time in his career.

Lived in Pittsburgh when I was a kid and became a Steelers and Pens fan for life. I follow the Reds in baseball. And the UC Bearcats in college. I also go to Cincinnati Cyclones games (ECHL team.) As for the NBA, we do not have a team in Cincinnati, (unless you want to count the Cincinnati Royals, who had their last game in Cincinnati back in 1972) so I admittedly just bandwagon to players I enjoy watching. LeBron James in Cleveland, and Carmelo Anthony in Denver.

Mets are on a roll, but I wouldn't put to much emphasis on how they played in April... Concentrate more on how they can keep the lead come September...

This is the same douche who should get fired for not signing a starting pitcher.

A-Rod's got the day off.

Granderson's got the month off.

But the Yankees are so loaded, that they should still take the series later today.

Buccos are having a tough time against the Dodgers this series. Andrew McCutchen, Doumit, and LaRoche seem like the only ones who are able to get the bat on the ball consistently. The pitching for the Bucs has just been giving up a ton of homers to Ethier as well, that doesn't help.

Those Royals are pesty! I was thinking the Rays would take 3 of 4, but those Royals battled hard and it ended in a split! The Rays went 6-3 on a 9 game home stand! 18-7 on the season! Now, it's off to the west coast for 9 games...3 games with Seattle, Oakland and Anaheim! Hoping to go at least 5-4 or better!

Go Rays!

And Ethier does it again, twice today! This dude is on fire. He almost owns the the triple crown right now.

I know its only the Pirates but our pitching seems to be on the upside finally. Kuroda looked really, really good today. Shame he wasn't given the opportunity to go the distance.

What the heck is the Red Sox problem? Getting swept by the Orioles is shocking, and if they don't get going soon they could fall into an insurmountable deficit to the Rays and Yankees (not to mention the rest of the wild card teams). I know the season isn't even 1/6 of the way done but you know the Yankees are going to keep winning and the Rays have been great so it may be hard to come back from a big deficit.

I don't follow the Red Sox enough to know what their issue is, but a guy on ESPN this morning brought up an interesting argument (I think it might've been Skip Bayless, who I don't agree with all the time, but sometimes he's right), which is that Boston plays in a bandbox, but is built around pitching and defense, which seems pointless.

I know as a Yankee fan, Boston has always felt like less of an offensive threat since Manny left, even if they've picked up some good players since then. A few years ago, during NYY/Bos games, if Manny and Ortiz were due up one inning, I'd sometimes change the channel, just because I was worried of what might happen, and didn't want to see it.

I think defense is overrated in baseball. If an above average fielder saves a few runs over an average fielder, over the course of a season, who cares? An above average hitter will create a greater number of runs over an average hitter. So I think priority should always be given to hitting, and good defensive skills should only be a tie-breaker when considering two equally good hitters.

I can see that being valid but I think their hitting isn't showing up and wasn't near the quality it was when they were winning championships, but now their pitching struggles in combination with that = losing to my craptastic O's

Yep and I'd worry if I was the Rays even when the Yanks were average years ago, they would come from like 2nd to last place and just crush there way into the playoffs or close to it, so now there winning and sitting in 2nd, wait till they turn the heat up
