It's about dawn time... the HD section on AVS Forum was i mess, and rumours started by it's 'Source' really hit the forum credibility.

I hope they return with full MOD next time. They need full time, Neutral MOD working around the clock otherwise it will become the same... again and again.

The 14 days method seems wise. We had one guy on here a few days ago that racked up 250 posts in about 24hrs.

Many of the attackers of Richard were known staff of AVS.

Wow threats and police investigations? I like my format, but some of these people are just a "little" excessive. They need to get counselling and quick. It's just a format war. Even if my Blu-Ray did lose, I'd be disappointed but I think I'd be ok.
I'm afraid the suicide rate may double or more when one or the other is declared a winner...

Rabid HDDVD fans seem unlikely to pick the most blu ray centric forum going to try to troll. It's counter productive to getting that false sense of security that comes from hanging out with other craven cuthroat fanatics in an environment dominated by them.

They can always head over to dailytech, great place for some HDDVD patting on the back.

I doubt any of that could possibly be illegal.

How precious. The announcement says:
Quote:
First, AVS Forum as a site and a company that is NEUTRAL on the format war.
then later on desperately tries to explain why their forums drown in HD-DVD propaganda:
Quote:
For those of you who think we are all HD DVD, this is NOT our doing and NOT the case. Remember, AVS Forum is known in the industry as the site for the early adopters. As such, the first one out of the gate would look to have more support than any other based on the early units and posts here on the site. It is catchy and thus starts to stick.
What a lame argument! More BDs have sold than HD-DVDs all year long so why would the majority be HD-DVD? Could it be that all the BD people left?

They just don't want to admit that turning their forums over to lying Microsoft shills was a really bad idea. It's time they apologize for it.

I'm not talking about illegality. Suing for libel is a civil, not criminal matter. When one company sues another company for libel it is because they are claiming that their company or employees were misrepresented by statements of the other company. If an employee of AVS deliberately misrepresented the product or words of the employee of a movie studio, they could be sued for libel.

Libel is a serious issue and false information could potentially damage the reputation of a company.

Just so you know, it's libel. "Liable" means legal responsibility.

I'll try not to be offended here. I'm not an idiot. I know what libel is. It is a fanboy wet dream to think anything like that happened.
