I just added a PS3 to my Home Theater. I too started with the HD-A2, and I've got to say based on all the research I've done. It IS the best Blu-Ray Player out there.

Warning though.

It is not designed to integrate with a FULL home theater setup. I'm just discovering this now. A full Home Theater Setup uses a single remote or Commander to operate all your devices in one fluid operation.
example: Press 1 button on your remote, and 5 devices immediately turn on to your preferred settings.

Because the PS3 uses Blue-Tooth technology, the above is not possible. This is so-far, the only real complaint I have about the PS3. If this is not an issue for you, then get the PS3.

A lot of people have become quite adept at juggling 5 remotes in the dark, while watching movies. I'm just not one of them.

I thought only hd dvd fans spoke about profile. It simply allows gimmicky extra features like picture in picture commentary where a box with the director in it is superimposed over part of the movie while he talks about directorial decisions. Another of these features is for ordering movie related items, but you can find better selection and prices by getting on the internet w/ your computer.

Then I think (unless you want to take advantage of games/ Media station, in which case the PS3 is an obvious choice) that the new Panasonic BD30 is a clear winner at $499 MSRP (likely to be found around $449).

Check it out (release date 11/12)

I dig the advanced color calib. and the pixel corrector and "Deep Color"

I hate it! Because I am always pointing it at the screen like an idiot!

Honestly though, I like the remote. However the only drawback is that I can't use it with my Harmony remote.

PS3 all they way, however I may end up getting the new Panasonic when the price comes down a little for bitstreaming of DTS-MA and Dolby TrueHD. This is only if it is determined that my 60 GB PS3 cannot do this with a firmware release.

Lol, same here. I love the remote but I always find myself pointing it at the damn tv like a fool.

FYI - Get a PS3 - the BEST player out there right now, bar none! Btw, welcome to Blu.

You are assuming this is all it will ever be used for, though. Sometimes it just feels good to have the latest and the greatest. Equally important (to me) is that updating the firmware on my A20 is a snap. I wish my BDS1 was ethernet connected for this feature alone.

You can get an IR (I believe USB) plug-in for the PS3 and go back to one remote.

I don't have one but heard they are out there and in use.
