That's probably the best explanation. We have too many good exclusives coming out!

In the last 6 months the overall sales gap has closed to almost nothing...so I'd say that this is no longer true.

Give it another 6 months and I bet PE on Blu will be ahead of PE on HD.

As for JK Rowling's comments, yea I don't care, but it was odd. It was just one of those things that really doesn't even add or take away from the storyline so why bother?
Can we confirm this Because I will MOST DEFINATELY buy this if this is the case. (Extra 2 Slots)

Besides having fewer 'good' titles to chose from I noticed PlanetEarth on Blu-ray for a lot less at Walmart the other day than what I had seen on Amazon (was like $65 or something).

Here's the catch: I haven't seen Planet Earth HDDVD at any of the four Walmarts in range of my house. I've only seen the Blu-ray version at all of them.

That alone could be enough to skew the numbers when you consider how few copies are actually selling. Even if only a small percentage of people were purchasing it on Blu at Walmart (but no HDDVD buying at Walmart) it would affect the Neilsen's a great deal.

I've been thinking about getting Lost season 3 too, but I feel weird about getting season 3 when I they don't have the first 2 on Blu-ray.

LOST is greatness, any idea though if the first two seasons are coming out?

I may just buy them still just to spite her, you cant let em win or they come accustomed to it.

Sidenote: What the hell was J.K. Rowling thinking by announcing the whole story about Dumbledore being you know, "not like theres anything wrong with that" but in what mind set did she think that this would boost sales or make her legendary books become more popular. That was definately a "What the F!@% moment of 2007".
I am a long time HP nut, I admitt this even thought I am closer to Dumbledor age then Harry Potter. First off my BD Player is able to show the original HP disks just fine, I don't know how much better they will look in BD. I am waiting for the full 7 disk set and that's that. Then there is JK Rowling's "outing" of Dumbledor. What would Ritta Skeeter say about this??? She already spoke of him and Harrys relationship as questionable, now JK has thrown fire whiskey on the flames! She never talked about sex in the books, at least not much, we never knew or were told about anyones sexuality, now she drops this bombshell, this casts and ugly and unwanted light on Harry and his beloved headmaster, what was she thinking indeed?

Anyone have any thoughts as to why?
Because of all the people mistakenly buying the HD DVD and trying to play them in their SD players. I'm not even making that up.

Again, who cares, it's just a story. But, it was a bit out of nowhere.
Maybe they could use this to try and get Ian McKellan to come on board as Dumbledore . . . Michael Gambon is the only one in the cast that doesn't seem to fit the character. McKellan would be absolutely perfect.

Just like anything else, I would imagine they'd gauge the sales of lost season 3 to see if putting out tv on blu is worth it right now. It is quite the price difference in comparison with the regular DVD. I'll be picking it up at some point, but not right away. I still have to watch season 2.

I'm starting to wonder whether I should continue buying 24 on DVD because I know it will go blu soon if Prison Break sells decently. I specifically put off purchases of shows like CSI, desperate housewives, and lost in hope of Blu versions, but I just don't know if I can manage with 24.

As for HP on Blu, I wasn't planning on picking up any on Blu until we get a set of 7, but if there are extra spots in this box, I may reconsider. I currently don't own any on DVD because I've been waiting for a complete set.

My daughter who is 10 (almost 11) dictates I purchase the blu-ray set when it comes out. Hey, she's greatness and she gets what she wants.

Ever since the first HP was announced I was hoping for McKellan to play Dumbledore. It would be great if they chose him for the last two movies.

I too have always felt that Gambon was mis-cast as Dumbledore; his performances always felt too emotional compared to the cool, calm & collected persona of Dumbledore in all the novels. Richard Harris's performances were spot-on; he seemed regal and right in the Dumbledore mold, where Gambon seems almost hysterical in his approach.

Ian McKellan would make a great Dumbledore; his voice sounds more authoritative and he projects the persona much better....plus he already has the long white hair & beard from playing Gandalf
