I don't think you can get a decent 50" 1080p LCD for under $2,000. Maybe 720p or a smaller screen size. Why do you favor LCD over Plasma? Plasma offers better Contrast Ratio, Viewing Angle, Brightness, and is cheaper for larger sized TV's. The only advantage LCD used to have over Plasma was that they could manufacture 1080p sets, but they can do that now for Plasma so I don't see why you would avoid it.
