He's been quoted as saying that he'll never shoot digital. I imagine it's just for that reason.

I have War of the Worlds on the way out to me now and I'm sure I'll love the look.
Yes, the "grainy" look IS done on purpose, and even though SPR does have moments of Amazing clarity on Bluray, it still has some heavy grain thru-out Most of it, which was done that way to give it that "look" if you will, being in WWII and such. I'm sure WOTW will look the same way as it did on DVD, but maybe a bit clearer obviously. The AUDIO (can't WAIT for the "Pod" emergence scene! , as the "dualies" will prob. crack my windows... ) is what will make this movie as Incredible sounding as it did with SPR.

At least some of the Veterans' still like that Old-School look of actual Real FILM. What a concept!!

I bought WOTW on BD yesterday. I thought the PQ was a significant improvement over the DVD. I expected the lossless low bass would be more detailed and cleaner. That wasn't the case. I have dual PA-120s.

The sound from my other 5 speakers seemed to sound better and cleaner on the BD though. So, I don't regret double dipping.

Well, I just ordered my PA-120 in cherry this morning! Based on some recommendations, I was really tossing around getting a Hsu STF-1. I really love that sub, but I think for the size of room, I will use this sub for now. When upgradeitis sets in again (and I have no doubt it will! ) I will have plenty of time to have saved up for a Hsu, eD or SVS. Right now I have no sub in my setup, so I'm excited to see how this baby performs!

I haven't received any shipping info (and I probably won't until tomorrow) but I accidentally let the order go through on my PO Box (and Amazon didn't seem to have a problem with it, but I bet they will!). I e-mailed them and asked them to let me know if they need an alternate delivery address, so I hope they will. I'm sure it will cause a shipping delay, which stinks bigtime, but it's my fault so I can't really complain too much Anyone else do a similarly bone-headed move so I know what to expect?

Congrats, on the purchase. I think from what all the owners here have said about the PA-120 you will have no feeling of upgraditist on that sub, unless you want dual subs. Duals are just awesome..... Im never going back to a single sub... of course, I do want to replace the AA because my eD overplays its, but it does add nearfield bass quite nicely, and rounds out the room.

Did you get your stands? How are they working?

Cant help you on the PO box issue, but Im sure they will ask where to actually send it.

Thanks!!!

On the PO Box issue, I decided just to change the shipping address so there might not be a delay, but then they (Amazon) charged me twice for the item...grrr. I'm sure it will get sorted out, but it's irritating

Back to the fun stuff!
I haven't gotten the stands yet. I'm toying with the idea of trying to make some and staining them to match my bookshelf that will be in the living room after I move (only a few more days!). I'm going to get there and see how much space I have before I order them (especially with the sub to find some room for). I think I have about a 90 inch wall to fit my A/V cabinet, sub, speakers and TV/dresser on, which will make it a lot more than crowded. The only other furniture option would require me sitting about 12 feet away from a 32 inch TV, which will make me want to cry. I'll most likely end up with the stands you recommended because they're nice sized! I still have a problem with my center not fitting in front of my TV on the dresser I am forced to use as a stand. It's not wide enough for the TV stand and the center, so I'm not exactly sure what I'm going to do about that. I'm open to any bright ideas. Does the center have to be centered? It would look idiotic I think if it wasn't, but if it sounded okay I'd live with it for a while until I figure out another solution. I am trying to find solutions that don't require me to make giant holes in the wall of the apt I'm renting (like mounting the TV, which I would love to do, but cannot).

I would love dual subs and I"m sure given the room's limitations (the back of the room is closed on one side and open to the dining room on the other and there are hallways extending out from both the left and right back of the room) they would make it sound amazing! I think for now, I'll save my money for other things and I'm sure something will pop up that i need to spend it on My neighbors will hate me so much anyway haha Seems like now days people don't come yell at you and ask you to turn stuff down themselves and give you a chance, they just call the cops on you. Not nice

Get a new tv stand like the one above. I plan on getting one of these too, this one will hold upto a 52" TV, so you can get a new plasma or LCD later.... but its only 42" wide, and that means you can center the TV and center channel along your 90" wall. Use the top shelf for the center, and the shelves below for your receiver, DirecTV/Cable HD receiver, and blu-ray player.

That would leave you with 2 feet on either side of the stand to place your speakers. Your sub can go anywhere in the room, it doesn't have to be upfront. Remember that your speakers want to be about 1 foot from the side walls and 1 foot from the back wall, with the tweeter at or just above ear level.

The surround speakers can go above ear level 1-2 feet. If you need to use port plugs on these go ahead because you may need to have these too close to a wall or wall mounted so the plugs will help keep the bass sounding smooth.... I use on port plug in one of my surrounds, my SB speaker.

Just wanted to quickly update you guys and compliment Acoustic Sound Design (Mike Embers) on their customer service so far. I concur with the rest of you that their service is fantastic. I made a mistake with the shipping address when I ordered this morning, and I e-mailed them to make sure they were aware of the situation before 8 am this morning (Sunday). I got a reply before 10:30 verifying a correct shipping address!

Well....got the sub today. UPS really did a number on it. It must have been dropped on a corner because all of the finish is flaked off on that corner (on the piano black part, so it's really noticeable) which really sucks. Any experiences with what they do on merchandise damaged by UPS???

They may have you ship it back to them or they may give you some sort of compensation, if not a completely new unit. The sub is insured so you'll be covered, even if for whatever reason PA decided to not be helpful.

Cool-that is good to know! I'm sure they'll be helpful, as they were really quick to reply to e-mails before shipping, I was just curious if anyone had a similar experience and what they did, just to satiate my impatience I'll see what happens!!!

Most definitely! It's not the worst thing I've ever seen, but it was a little disappointing. I'm sure they'll do something, I'll just wait and see

Premier Acoustics will take care of you. Don't worry - if you want another sub - they will get it to you at no cost - I'm sure.

They have been great to reply quickly in an e-mail I sent them previously, so I definitely have high hopes. Haven't heard from them yet, but I'm sure I will tomorrow sometime. Thanks for the reassurance!!!

Bunch of pansies livin' near ya', huh? Gesh. That is sad. My friend in Arizona is about to close on his 1st house & he had one rule for his realtor looking for places: No HOA houses at all.

It's during the DAYTIME, I'd tell em' to Pound Sand. Can you contest it as it wasn't after 9 or 10pm? Better yet, pick 1 or 2 people NEAR your place, & file the same complaint. Yes, I love it!!
