The 83 has a dedicated stereo output, where the 80's is shared with the 7.1 analog section. You can also output the DSD stream on SACD's via analog on the 83, whereas you can only output it as PCM via analog on the 80. Both output the DSD stream for SACD over HDMI (which is excellent ). The DAC's in the 83 are better than the DAC's in the 80 also, but for the price the 80 is a very high quality audio player.
