He could have just as easily completed the mission and gone home and quit the business without dealing with his issues, if not for the fact that his subconscious kept sabotaging the missions to drag him down to limbo and force him to face his demons. Had he done so, he still would have been unabsolved and miserable, it would not be enough, and the story would lack interest. He would still become “an old man, filled with regret, waiting to die alone”. Confronting Mal is the central conflict foreshadowed throughout the movie from the opening scene onward, by frequent bleedthrough of his negative memories in every dream and even in some awake moments. Saying it's about getting back to the kids but not about confronting guilt, is like saying the Star Wars saga is about blowing up the Death Star but not about saving Darth Vader.
Very nicely put

Domestic: A lot depends on this weekend's hold. It needs at least $30m to have a shot at $300m total IMHO. If it ends up around $28m, which I think it will, then it's probably headed for $280ish million.

Overseas: Clash of the Titans made $328m and Inception so far has performed better than that one in a lot of key markets. The staggered release dates make it somewhat misleading in that it appears it won't make a lot overseas but that simply isn't the case. It's likely headed for around $330-350m overseas.

Worldwide: $610-650m.

Ditto -- I just hope the Audio is as intense & hard-hitting as my IMAX experience was.

Thats what I didnt care for. It was "easy" for lack of a better term.

With the help of a novelist named Charlie Prince, who has been covertly investigating the project for the basis of a new book, Alex learns of Blair’s sinister intentions.

Prince and Novotny are both murdered to silence them, things get worse when the President of the United States is admitted as a patient, and Alex’s co-hort Tommy Ray Glatman is sent into the President's nightmare in an attempt to have him assassinated.

Blair considers the President a threat to national security due to the President's nightmares of a post-apocalyptic world, which represent his fears and becomes cause for his wishing to enter unfavorable negotiations for nuclear disarmament."
That would be 'Dreamscape' with Dennis Quaid and Kate Capshaw.

am i the only one that thinks that
[Show spoiler]the entire movie was his dream? Dreams always start off in the middle and it seemed like this movie started off in the middle. It also seemed to jump around a lot from scene to scene and rarely ever showed him travel anywhere.

'The Dark Knight' ran almost the exact same numbers on IMDb when it came out... where does that one stand now?

I agree, it'll fall out. But it won't fall too far too soon.

The Dark Knight isn't in the Top 10 anymore over at IMDB, but it is still 12th as it has over 50% 10's (Inception currently has 67% 10s).

TDK's spot is affected by TS3 and Inception. TS3 is likely going to fall behind TDK over the next 6 months or so. Inception might hang on for a while longer. It has nearly twice as many votes as TS3 and has managed to stay in the top 3 while TS3 has already fallen from #6 to #10 in roughly one month's time.

Ah ok then, thanks!

Although he got a few minor details wrong, I like that he noted the potential of a
[Show spoiler]dual Inception
going on throughout the movie. It's that ambiguity that makes it so infinitely rewatchable. And a major reason why I hope that Nolan doesn't include any kind of commentary on the BD/DVD, unless it be of a technical nature. This is not a movie that should be explained but rather debated.

Yup and I now agree with those that think Cobb's
[Show spoiler]totem was his wedding ring, even if you never see the guy check it. He's always wearing it in dreams but doesn't have it on in real life.
