It's becoming painful to watch, however I'm impressed by Swisher. He's looking like more and more of an all-star every day.

I couldn't agree more about Swisher.

Oh, and I've seen many Yankee fans on THIS forum say negative things about Girardi, so I suppose those people are "Yankee haters" too?

Jays will take the series in New York. Just wait and see.

If Hill and Lind were having the kind of years they had last year the Jays would be right in the thick of things.

What's the deal with the dimensions of the Yankees ballpark? 314ft to right, seems like a little league setup. No wonder there ball park has amassed the most homers this year.

GO JAYS!!

Ew Duensing is starting tonight, at least he has a low ERA and should be rested enough to make a game of it.

And then you came back from dreamland. FYI, the dimensions are the same as the old place. Also, the HR's there have dropped drastically from last year.

A Rod- $30+ million salary / .266 16HR 85 RBI
J. Batista- $2.4 million salary / .260 32HR 82 RBI

Classic case of Yankee over spending. Still they continue to shell out cash and buy Championships instead of earning it through player development.

Still wonder how the city of New York would handle it if the Yankees missed the playoffs. God forbid.

How about you compare career #'s instead of one season and lest see who's better? Don't get gassed just because Bautista is having a fluke season. Also, don't hate on the Yankees just because they can go into free agency. Get mad at your teams front off. Don't hate the player, hate the game. FYI, they Yanks have a very good farm system (just happens that naive people like you just overlook it). We won't miss the playoffs (unlike Toronto). Even if we did, we'd handle it the same way we did in 08.

BTW:

Testy!!

Wow you missed the playoffs twice in the last 17 years. Spoiled i'd say.
I guess it's not economically valiable to miss the playoffs.

I was simply pointing out a simple fact that the Yankees have long been over spenders, mediocrity isn't accepted and that's why they unload boat loads of money to acquire all the stars.

I must say here that teams like the Yankees only accept championship seasons, so simply making the post-season or reaching the World Series isn't enough, or Joe Torre would still be there.

Correct. Like Derek Jeter stated " no matter what happens in the season, if we dont' win it all, that season is considered a failure for us.

Cano, Posada, Jeter, mariano, Hughes, Pettitte all came from our farm system and are all-stars (not Posada this year). The only all-stars on the Yankees that are not from our farm system are A-Rod, Swishter and Sabathia.

I think thats true of any winning team in any sport if you have long term playoff appearances and even some success it'll get to a point where division champs or appearances aren't enough to keep the fan base satisfied, its not a Yankees thing its a winning team thing

Not many players (if any) come out and say it though. Never said that it's only a Yankee thing. With that said, playing in NY is unlike playing anywhere where the stakes are super high (the only place I could say comes close would be Boston and only because the media up there is super brutal and make the NY media look like saints).
