I tend to agree.
How is bringing in a movie to WalMart any different than selling it on Ebay or to a friend. It is not like they are lying about what they are bringing in (e.g., they are not bringing in a DVD and claiming its BluRay). Walmart sells new movies for price X, you bring in a new movie, Walmart gives you X dollars in credit for the movie, Walmart then later sells the movie for X dollars. Don't see how Walmart is hurt (at worst they break even, at best they make a little since they likely give you the lowest price), don't see where the customer did anything "bad" or cheated Walmart in any way (Walmart got exactly what they paid for a new, sealed movie).

From the perspective of the BDA (or whoever is sponsoring the 5 free movies) I doubt they care what movies you select, it probably is easier to stalk a limited number of movies for the promotion than trying to stock all available blurays. The point of the promotion was to entice people to purchase players by giving them 5 free movies, if I don't like the movies they have selected and exchange them for ones that I do like, the BDA's promotion is still working (i.e., I still have the player and I have five free movies to watch on it).

I think this is different from the situation where you buy the PS3, then try to return it without the free movies, in which case you are basically trying to get the 10 movies for free, which is not the point of the promotion.

whew, that was a lot of typing.
