I wonder if Minnesota gets more active with free agency in the future. Their attendence soaring (about 10K more per game) in 2010 versus 2009 thanks to the new ballpark. Last I checked they were 6th in avg attendence. They should be able to maintain a higher payroll if that sustains.

Not that it matters. Either way he's going to be on the golf course in October.

What's a gold course? Tigers have no shot yes, even the White Sox only have an outside shot at the division at this point.

I'm really surprised that Damon didn't go back to the Red Sox. I would think that a player at this stage of his career would pick competing for a championship (especially in a place where he's looked upon as a hero) over being comfortable with team mates/environment. But, I guess winning isn't everything. Even though the Sox are within striking distance of both the division and the wild card race, while the Tigers don't have a chance in hell of reaching anything this year.

I do not think he is looked upon as a hero in Boston anymore. Not after selling his soul to the Yankees.

He'll never be a hero again in Boston. But I think he'd be accepted as long as he produced there. And I honestly don't know why he wouldn't want to go back to Boston. He's really as a dead end in Detroit. That team isn't going to compete for a championship any time soon. Then again maybe he doesn't care anymore and just wants to collect a paycheck.
