I just sold my Pioneer 5070 (720P) and bought the Pio 5010-FD two weeks ago. Love it, do I see a huge difference....probably not but I do sleep better at night and I don't have as much anxiety as I did not having a 1080P tv..LOL
I know you said it might be out of your price range, but check online. This is at BB for 4999, I found it online for 2999 + ship + 4 Year warranty + Ship Insurance and still only paid 3700. You can search around but I don't think anyone will say anything bad about a 1080P Pioneer Plasma
