I definitely won't be shaking his hand once he moves into the area. There are unwritten rules in baseball and this easily falls under that umbrella. You don't steal with a 10 run lead and sure as heck don't act like you got your hand broken when the ball hits the bat. These type of shenanigans is what turns me off from watching sports like soccer & the NBA.
It's funny seeing the pole on ESPN where 51% of the people NOT in the U.S. thought it was cheating. There are a lot of Yankees fans spread across the country but internationally not so much. Still, 46% here think it was cheating.
this type of shit happens in EVERY sport....its not really a big deal either way... its just that noone though Jeter would do such a thing... but hey, guys trying to win a game.....

Better hitters right now, I will admit Jeter is probably one of the best shortstops to ever play the game and he was once quite a hitter but he's a shell of his former self.

Listen, you can pick anyone's actions apart and find faults if you dig deep enough. This has totally blown up because 1. it's Jeter and 2. it has to do with the Yankees. If this was Pablo Sandovol or Stephen Drew, no one would even care.

You actually make a good point... I think it being a Yankee player makes it even a bigger deal than it really is... I mean the Rays still won so either way it didn't effect the outcome of the game so its kind of a moot point to be arguing this now...

Derek Jeter admitted after Wednesday's loss to the Rays that he pretended to be hit by a pitch to get on base in the seventh inning.
"It hit the bat," said Jeter. "He told me to go to first. I'm not going to tell him, 'I'm not going to go to first,' you know? My job is to get on base." It's hard to tell by his career-low .330 on-base percentage. In all seriousness, Jeter isn't the first to do a sell-job and he won't be the last.

Like any team in the league would be comfortable with a half game lead, I mean our division is pretty much wrapped up but if the Twins just mail it in the rest of the way there's a chance they could miss out on the #1 spot or even lose the division title.

The AL wild card is pretty much over. It will be either NY or Tampa (whichever of the two that doesn't win the AL east will get the wild card).

Kevin Slowey (12-6, 4.24 ERA) looks for a third straight strong start since after coming off the 15-day disabled list due to a strained right triceps.
The right-hander allowed two unearned runs with five strikeouts in five innings of a 6-2 win at Cleveland on Sunday. Six days earlier, he yielded two runs in four innings of a 5-4 victory over Kansas City after being activated.
"I felt a whole lot better than the last time out, but still wasn't as sharp as I would like," Slowey said after beating the Indians. "Getting five runs early helps. You don't have to be quite as sharp."
Six of Slowey's last seven starts have resulted in wins for Minnesota, and he's gone 4-1 with a 2.43 ERA. That includes a superb performance against Oakland on Aug. 15, as he threw seven innings of no-hit ball before the bullpen gave up three hits and two runs in a 4-2 win.
Slowey is 3-0 with a 1.38 ERA and 30 strikeouts in 26 innings over four career starts against the A's.
Oakland is all but mathematically eliminated from playoff contention, but is trying to get back to .500 after dropping two of three at Kansas City following Wednesday's 6-3 defeat.
The A's will turn to Dallas Braden (9-12, 3.56), who has lost three consecutive starts with a 6.32 ERA after throwing a four-hitter in a 5-0 win at Texas on Aug. 28.
The left-hander struggled again Sunday, surrendering four runs with four walks in 5 2/3 innings of a 5-3 loss to Boston.
"The story (Sunday) was I provided a nice walkathon for them," Braden said. "It was just gross. I don't ever complain on balls and strikes because I'm a big believer that, that stuff evens out over the course of a season, but (Sunday) was bad. Period."
Braden is 0-1 with a 3.38 ERA in five starts against the Twins. He lost his only game at Minnesota on Aug. 20, 2008.
