IDK what to do with Burnett he's been so sloppy this season. We'll see what happens tonight. It would be nice to get a W though. We are coming close to the end.

according to the L.A times Don Mattingly will replace Joe Torre as Dodger Manager after this season..

The Los Angeles Times reports that the Dodgers will have Don Mattingly replace Joe Torre as their manager at the conclusion of the season.
The Times reports that Torre could remain with the organization, though there's been speculation that he'll have opportunities to manage elsewhere if he'd like. It's been assumed since the day both were hired that Mattingly would eventually replace Torre, but recent speculation had the Dodgers seriously considering Tim Wallace instead. Considering that Mattingly has never managed at any level and he hasn't exactly brought out the best in players as a hitting coach, he could well prove to be a bust as Torre's replacement. Hey, it's the Dodger way! Reward a horrible batting coach with no managerial experience while we have a capable manager who's payed his dues in the minors! The ONLY reason Donny is getting this gig is because of his famous NY name. PATHETIC!!!!

Hmm so Torre is retiring? Donnie was pretty ticked when he didn't get the job in NY. He was bench coach with Joe and was getting primed for the position and then it went to Girardi. Mattingly said shove it and joined Joe in LA. I was surprised he didn't get it, but Girardi did give NY another WS title in two years.

Girardi doesn't have a contract after this year so depending on the team's success there's no guarantee he'll return. I would guess the Dodgers want to get Mattingly under contract soon so they don't have to compete with the Yankees if Girardi leaves or they decide not to sign him to a new deal. There's a very real possibility that Girardi could decide to go to the Cubs. Girardi is from Illinois, as is his wife, he is a Northwestern alum, and came up with the Cubs so it's not impossible that he could choose to leave New York. It's also possible that Girardi could try and use the Cubs job as leverage to get a bigger deal from the Yankees.

god please dont give him another deal... and to the above poster who said, well he did get them a WS ring in 2 years.... yea, well i could have won a ring with that team... and he also MISSED the playoffs his first year....

I like Rod Gardenhire a lot but he needs to get consistent in the post-season, 6 division titles in 10 years and nothing to show for it so far. Not sure if he was our manager for all 10 seasons though.

Could Girardi go to Chicago? I wouldn't rule it out, I know he enjoys his time in NY. However, he does come from IL..came up through their system, etc. The question is who would replace him?

Is this done to avoid the whole getting fired for the losing season BS or is he really just a good ole fashioned "put me before the team" kinda guy, I'll go with the latter, good luck Dodger Fans I hope the right guy steps in and points the team in the right direction once again.

Wow dude I hate the Yankees too but Torre is good people and slamming him like that is completely unfounded. I know the Yankees fell apart a bit before he left and the Dodgers faded this year but it wasn't his fault.

This isn't Torre's decision. His contract expires after the season and the team wasn't going to make any effort to re-sign him, although even if they tried he wouldn't return as the Dodgers aren't going to spend any money on free agents while their owners are going through their divorce. This team isn't going to improve as long as Frank McCourt is the owner, and the fans should be praying the judge in the divorce orders the team to be sold.

Dude you obviously don't watch Dodger baseball, so just let me clue you in: Torre is a HORRIBLE NL manager. He has pretty much blown our whole bullpen up with the way he abused them and is pathetic at situational decisions. I don't know how he acted with the Yankees but in the three years he's been here he has shown no fire in him. I swear every time he confronts an ump he's acting like he's having a tea party with them.

He threw in the towel on his team awhile ago. And as much as people want to blame the owners, Torre and his coaching staff are still high paid professionals. They should be able to rile this team up somehow instead of letting it slip out of hand with the way this team is laying down now. Torre and his staff are absolutely at fault!

He will not be missed by me and alot of other Dodger fans. And we are certainly not looking forward to his clone Mattingly.

Great comeback by my Yanks tonight and combined with Tampa's loss to the Angels, we're back in first. Man, ever game on this road trip has been like a playoff game. AJ pitched a good game as well. The AL east is going to be decided in that 4 game series in the BX next week when Tampa goes in.
