This is the same issue with the PSP and the DS. Which one would you rather have a kid destroy.

![]() I was speaking of the PS3 when I talked about the $400 system. The Wii in his logic was a waste because he'd end up with a console he wouldn't be using in a few years and all the games would be mothballed. With the PS2 games he'd have those still available. Quote:

the only problem that i see with the ps2 is the system is dated. When Sony pulls their support, new 1st and 3rd party games will vanish and stores will close sections to make room for the xbox 360, ps3 and wii selections. Right now the ps3 doesn't have a lot of E-rated games, so the wii would be the present choice, but the ps3 would be the choice if you are planning into the future.

Also Sony didnt pull hardware support for the PS1 until a few years after the PS2 came out. They will likely support the PS2 (atleast hardware wise) for another 2-3 years. And Developers will continuento release games for another 1-2 years at the very least. Besides even if they cut game support today it would still take 2+ years to play though all the best games. |

PS2 is a great choice. It's got a trickload of great games, and still soem more new ones on the way. In time, it will see less shelf space, but online stores and ebay will still have plenty of top-notch PS2 games readily available.

I personally still buy PS2 games. The PS2, I believe, has the biggest library of games ever. It makes sense money wise, the system is cheap and games are inexpensive. Some people really don't care about HD, so they forget that in making their purchases.

One thing to consider perhaps,...
If you have a local Gamestop, they may have excellent used Ps2 games for $1 and up. I bought a game I love, NFL2k3 which won all kinds of awards when it was released for $0.99. More recently I compared it to Madden 07 for PS3 and I actually like 2K3 better. So,.. if he's like me and wants his gaming dollar to net great games for low prices, the Ps2 makes a lot of sense. (Of course,.. I don't have a PS2 but I play some Ps2 games on my PS3.) -Brian |

depends on the age of your kids.
I think the Wii is good up to 15. (that does not mean adults will not enjoy it though.) It's just very young kid friendly. PS2 I would say 12 and up. Last edited by Go Blu; 11-29-2007 at 05:36 PM. |

As much as I would love to see another PS3 out there and a whole shit ton stack of Blus sitting right next to it, his logic makes sense. It is still a sony product so I really cant get mad at that. Hopefully he will hit the PS3 as the child grows up. Later is better than never!
