Interesting, I've only heard great things about the third. I recently watched the first 2 but missed the third in the theaters, so I can't wait to rent it!

Yeah, i thought TS 3 was far and away better than the first two. Funnier, darker, scarier, warmer, lots of action, new cool characters, and way better PQ/AQ. Of course i never saw the first two until AFTER seeing TS 3, so my opinion might be different if i'd "grown up" with these movies.

500 Days of Summer

Film: 4.5/5
-awesome movie. thanks for recommendation Bearcat
-loved the intro documentary-style part with narrator and black&white. reminded me of Magnolia intro. Showing Summer on bike with dimensions of her height, etc, was like Magnolia showing dimensions of building, etc, with similar narrator in background
-Great job flipping forward and backward and I could generally follow the timeline with the day chart they showed, but at times I got a little lost on "when was this in the relationship?". maybe too harsh but that's why I didn't give it 5/5. It just wasn't always clear to me "when" they were (Season 5 Lost shout out ).
-A very accurate portrayal of relationships.
[Show spoiler]I loved him saying "she said her weekend was GOOOOD, that means she banged some dude." I've thought that. I loved how he was reserved and never came out of his shell for her. I loved how he asked about her ex's, then wished he hadn't...then asks more...then REAALY wishes he hadn't...then asks more... I loved how he wanted to talk about their status! No, girls arent the only ones who do that! We do it too! She has obviously been burned by love (parents love breaking up = huge pain, or former boyfriend) and was incredibly afraid to reinvest in love again. This happened to me once and the girl responded (100% serious): "Oh...you want to DTR" Surfdude: "DTR?" Girl: "Define the relationship..that's so cute" On her facebook page, what is her favorite quote? DTR! No Joke!

-HOwever, my favorite part was
[Show spoiler]the expectation/reality split screen. I did a standing ovation in my living room (ok not really). But finally a movie hits the issue on the nose. The problem isn't Summer. The problem is his expectation of Summer. It reminds me of the best quote I've heard on love: "You're never in love with anyone. You're only in love with your prejudiced ideas of that person and your hopeful ideas of that person." We often hear "how could you let me down when I trusted you?", but as the movie shows, when the girl at the restaurant reminded him: Summer never cheated on him, and told him she didn't want anything Serious. So he wasn't trusting her and wasn't in love with her. If so, he'd be as casual as she is. In fact, he was actually trusting and actually in love with a hopeful version of her that existed only in is mind but didn't exist in reality. We don't like to say to ourselves "my judgment of her was lousy!"...that's not very flattering to us is it? So we prefer to say "how could she let me down?" not realizing its not true. I loved when the film drives this home a 3rd time (in case we're not paying attention the first 2 times) when the little girl tells him to think of ALL the time he spent with her, not just the good times (he was only in love with the "good time version" of Summer, not "every time version" of Summer)

PQ and AQ: 4/5 very good

will be buying this!

I'm not Bearcat, but I'm glad you really enjoyed this. It was one of my favorite movies from last year.

They put up the days on the screen so you wouldn't get confused, but I can understand if you might have gotten confused a couple of times. I'm sure you'll get used to it after you've watched it again.

I paused the movie once or twice to go, "Ok, this happened on this day, that happened on that day, etc...." and then started it again when I figured it out

yeah its probably me and not the movie. the days on the screen helped, but i still got lost at times sometimes it seemed like they jumped without showing the days. I'll have to ask bearcat if that occurred.

Oh! I forgot to ask: did you guys see the SEventh Seal parody??? AWESOME!!!

Default Memoris of a Geisha

Watched Memoirs of a Geisha.

Movie 4.5/5 : Saw this movie years ago and was fed up of waiting for a UK blu-ray so imported.

Im glad i have not read the book as no doubt i would have loved the film less. The books are nearly always better

The film is made up of some truly beautiful scenery. Watching the extras included it was amazing to see how much hard work went into building the small town for the film.

The movie would have been perfect if it was given more run time as it felt a little rushed towards the end trying to cram so much in.

I found the Picture Quality ranged from good to excellent and John williams soundtrack is excellent.

Also have to mention Zhang ziyi, beautiful

words cannot describe my enjoyment of reading your review and knowing you will be buying this wonderful gem of a movie. i always tell people it's kind of depressing, and no one really understands why, and while you may not agree, you nailed my reasoning perfectly:
[Show spoiler]because his expectations going in were too high. he was always looking for the "perfect person" with fate, destiny, all that fun stuff, but instead of figuring out IF this person was that person, he tried to make her that person any way possible and completely ignored (or thought he could change) what Summer said about not wanting anything serious.
and i know i've done that, so it was depressing because i kept saying, "ohhh, i do that all the time "

So its Golden if Christopher Nolan's name is on a film im watching it no matter the plot. hahahahah.

Just to make sure i got this right
[Show spoiler]The cop was good but using leonard to clean up the streets. He helped him originally but noticed his illness and then used him. Leonard understood and believed him but didnt wanna continue to basically kill for the cop. So he purposely didnt write down anyone note to prove the cop's innocence which would ultimately lead to him thinking he was his wife's killer.
Have you seen Following yet? I bet you would really like it. It's Bread-n-Butter old school indie Nolan.

Just to clear it up
Inception 9.5/10
Memento 9/10
Memento is an incredible movie and one of the most under-rated ones ever but it's just a notch below Inception.

BUT..........is it better than Hannah Montana?

FTR, i thought Inception was good, but something was missing. It had heart at times, but not throughout. I'm sure Squid can tell me what i didn't like about it. LOL!!

I liked 3 the best. By a huge margin. It has everything, like UP. Adventure, sorrow, comedy, action, danger, romance, strong themes.

Edit: I just saw Riffs post. He nailed it.

Like I've said before, I've liked most Pixars to date because I was able to connect to the characters and they were funny and moving, didn't get that from Toy Story 3 or Wall-E, yes I know I'm in a very small minority there. Oh and I agree with Diesel on needing to watch Iron Man in the next 3 days before picking up Iron Man 2.
