So according to Bill James' game score, Lincecum's performance last night scored a 96, which is higher than the 94 from Halladay's no-hitter the day before (incidentally, Don Larsen's perfect game also has a score of 94).

Lincecum's 96 makes it the 4th most dominant start in playoff history.

The other three:

#3 - Score: 97 - Dave McNally: 11-inning shut-out, 11 K's (Game 2 of the 1969 ALCS)
#2 - Score: 97 - Babe Ruth: 14-inning complete game (Game 2, 1916 WS)
#1 - Score: 98 - Roger Clemens: 1-hit shut-out, 15 K's (Game 4, 2000 ALCS)

Dang, kind of makes you wonder why they didn't let the Babe keep pitching, even after he became such a good long ball hitter.

They were having an interesting discussion on Mike and Mike this morning over what the greatest postseason pitching performance in history is. Golic thought it's Don Larsen's perfect game in the World Series. Greenberg thought it was Jack Morris' 10 inning complete game from game 7 of the 1991 World Series, because to go 10 innings with 0 run support in a game 7 would be so nerve-racking. Golic disagreed because Morris gave up 7 hits and didn't think that could possibly be better than a perfect game.

Lincecum's high strikeouts beats a no hitter? I don't get that at all.

The reason Lincecum's score is higher than Halladay's is because he had 6 more strikeouts. Lincecum loses 4 points for allowing 2 hits but gains 6 points over Halladay based on strikeouts, hence his score being 2 points higher. There is no sort of bonus for having a no-hitter, it's purely points based. The highest score ever in a 9-inning game is Kerry Wood's 20 strikeout complete game 1-hitter, which was worth 105 points. The link explains the scoring system.

Who is this Sergio Romo? 70/14 K/BB in 62 innings is phenomenal.

He is the setup man for the closer Brian Wilson. Why would you bring in a closer in the 8th with no outs?

Twins are going to get rolled later today 100-0 and then hopefully Ron Gardenhire will find himself unemployed.

i blame Bochy for that loss.... removing Burrell in the 6th inning.. Really? bringing in our closer in the 8th with no outs and runners on first and third... Either way its a 3-game series nows... with possibly Lincecum pitching monday... series can go either way now as Giants blew a great chance and should be up 2-0...

Go Giants

Billy Wagner, who left in the 10th inning of Friday night's game due to a strained left oblique muscle, will be out for the rest of the NLDS as well as the entire NLCS.
This is a huge blow to an already crippled Braves team. Wagner will be replaced by either reliever Takashi Saito or starter Jair Jurrjens, making him ineligible for the NLCS. If the Braves are to battle their way to the World Series Wagner hopes to be back, but in the mean time Kimbrel, Venters, and Saito are in line for the save opportunities. It's very possible that Wagner's fantastic career is done. Oct. 9 - 8:07 am et

Yeah that shot was absolutely crushed, like Bonds style. I think it's still traveling to Oakland.
