After so much talk about Die Hard 5 lately i went and rewatched all four of them and man was it fun. Each one is just as great as the first time i saw them. I think the first is by far the best but each one has something fun to offer.

Die Hard 5/5
Die Harder 3/5
Die Hard With A Vengance 4/5
Live Free Or Die Hard 4/5

Maybe you just arent into the whole family movie thing. There nothing wrong with that i just like every genre i good movie is a good movie.

Wall-E is the most serious movie ever released by Disney, its political and very believable! Nevermind him being in love, thats for the kids look at the message of the movie.
I couldn't get into Ratatouille AT ALL (hence why I didn't finish it).

Monsters is just all the way through
There may be one or two laughs in there (if that), I don't like the characters except maybe Sully a little bit...but because of John Goodman, not because of the actual character, the story wasn't interesting to me. Like I said,

I without a doubt will agree with the general consensus of the beginning of Up being sad, not as incredibly sad as some people say, but definitely sad.
I gave the movie a higher score when I first saw it, but then I saw it two or three more times and it just went down for me.

I don't have a family with family films/animated films. As evidenced by my very high scores for the Toy Story films, and respectable scores for Incredibles and Bug's Life. On the traditional animation side, Lion King earns a strong 5/5 for me. And on more recent animated movies, Despicable Me and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs were both excellent and hilarious family films.

Those ones just don't work for me as much as others. A 3.5/5 for Up isn't BAD, I would definitely watch it again, but it just isn't great to me. Monsters I will not watch again as I've given it several chances, and it hasn't grown on me.

I do need to see A Bug's Life again, because that score is an old one and may change once I see it again.

Die Hard 5/5
Die Harder 3/5
Die Hard With A Vengance 4/5
Live Free Or Die Hard 4/5
I really need to get around to seeing Die Hard 2 and 3

I enjoy the first one and the 4th.
Live Free is actually my favored one of the two.

It took some knocks for being PG-13, but I don't understand the logic in "I don't hear enough cursing or see enough fake blood...THIS MOVIE SUCKS!"

If you dislike the movie, fine, no worries, not everyone is going to agree. But if you hate it/didn't even see it just because it wasn't rated R....

4 was really good but the first is a classic to me. I like how in the first it is plain and simple with McClane killing terrorists in a buliding. Live Free went for a really epic plot and it worked well but i still prefer the first. And as for the PG-13 for Live Free i hated it at first but in the end it turned out pretty good but it was almost unnatural for McClane to not curse much. Between 1-3 he curses alot but it works for the character. I am sure someone in firefights like him would curse alot also it is just natural.

While my rating for The Incredibles would be higher, I agree on the rest. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is one I enjoyed a little more than expected and will probably pick up someday down the line for cheap, while I'm looking forward to blind buying Despicable Me in December.

It's been so long since I've seen the Die Hard movies, I couldn't tell you how I would rank them. In regards to Live Free or Die Hard's PG-13 rating, I didn't have much of an issue with that. I own it on Blu-ray and love the movie. The only issue I have with it is that it censors his trademark phrase, but he doesn't use it that much in the movie, so it's a very minimal issue for me. I didn't even notice anything else that the rating effected.

Next greatest rental: “The Thin Red Line.”

Seemed promising at first; the photography is definitely beautiful, and I can easily see the correlation between the peaceful natural world and the harsh brutality of war. “Avatar” can eat its heart out. Aside from that, the use of voiceovers makes this a rather poetic film, which is rather surprising. Music was rather moving too.

But as it went on (for nearly three hours), I found it rather dull. None of the characters really stood out for me (even though the flashbacks were pleasant and the voiceovers added some interesting introspect, I don’t think I ever got to know the characters sufficiently to appreciate them). The battle scenes are interesting at times, but once again nothing really stood out to me. The plot is straightforward, but also very long, and not quite as fast-paced as I hoped for.

Fundamentally, it actually reminds me a bit of "Valhalla Rising."

I may have to give this another viewing to fully appreciate. But for now…

3.5/5 (entertainment: 3/5, story: 2/5, film: 5/5)

I've changed my rankings of them in the past a few times (and may do so again in the future), but currently:

Toy Story 3 - 5/5

Toy Story - 5/5

Toy Story 2 4.5/5

[HUGE GAP]

A Bug's Life 4.25/5

The Incredibles - 4/5

Cars - 3.75

Up - 3.5/5

Wall-E - 3.5/5

Finding Nemo - ≤ 3/5*

Monsters Inc - ≤ 2.5/5*

Ratatouille - ?/5 (I didn't even sit through the whole thing)

*Can't think of a definite score off the top of my head for these two.
My ranking of Pixar movies is just like yours but flipped over.

The first game was like an old school NES game. Kill bad guys, save the girl/citizens

I can understand that thinking that people in these situations would curse A LOT (it's probably a very safe assumption), but to me, I just don't think cursing less takes away from a character in anyway

He's older now, maybe he's stopped using those words as much

*I can understand a little more if the resentment would be against not hearing his catchphrase as opposed to the general lack of F-bombs.
And actually, the F-bombs are all that's missing. They still say s*** and such that is allowed in PG-13.

Yea, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs was unexpectedly good. I expected and got

You should really enjoy Despicable Me. It was hilarious...plus a good movie.

I just mentioned that in my reply above
If the is for not hearing his trademark catchphrase in full, I can understand it more.

Universal Soldier: Regeneration

I can't believe it but it was one of the best 'action' flicks I have seen in a while. Read my full review however I would recommend it to anyone who likes Van Damme, hand to hand combat and unique direction.

3.5/5!

Rent it now!

Definitely Pixar's weakest, not unwatchable, but just fails according to what Pixar usually delivers.

Tales From the Hood - I had been wanting to see this for a while now since its been forever since last time I saw it. Still a very good anthropology. I watched it in standard definition on netflix streaming and man that does ruin a movie experience. Thats why I never watch standard anymore. It kinda messed up the viewing lastnight. As I said though its still a good film and I like each of the 4 stories told and the ending was great. One of the better anthropology films.

Film Rating - 4 stars (out of 5)

Got Em!!

man, jhiggy's gonna lose his marbles when he finally shows back up on this thread!
after my reviews of Atonement and The Godfather he was already flabbergasted! and i know he hates Wall-E and loves Ratatouille (i think he said it's his favorite Pixar film), he's gonna be a mess! all we need now is someone to come in and tell him all Criterion releases are "long and boring" and The Fountain is stupid to really tip him over the egde

my Pixar rating list... since we're all doing it

Toy Story 5/5
Toy Story 2 5/5
A Bug's Life 4.5/5
Wall-E 4.5/5
Monster's, Inc. 4.5/5
